Premier League Betting Tips – 24 May
Only a 93rd minute winner from Romelu Lukaku at Upton Park prevented us from another winning double last weekend, but there was a winner in our other selection as Burnley and Stoke City played out a 0-0 draw.
Southampton’s game at Manchester City and Aston Villa’s home tie against Burnley make up our Premier League football tips this weekend.
Premier League Football Tips
Aston Villa (2.05) v Burnley (3.60); Draw (3.50)
Tim Sherwood will not have been pleased at the 6-1 drubbing at Southampton and he’ll have been embarrassed at his side’s performance. He is the type of manager to not just forget about such a performance and it will have deeply hurt him despite the club confirming their Premier League status already.
Burnley have kept back-to-back clean sheets but found themselves relegated despite winning at Hull. Sean Dyche won’t want to finish the season in 20th however and that will be some incentive for the players to give it their all in their last Premier League appearance for at least another year.
The only change Sherwood made for the trip down south was Alan Hutton coming in for Kieran Richardson at left back who couldn’t deal with Sadio Mane. Brad Guzan could return in goal after Shay Given shipped in 6 but with an FA Cup final coming up at the end of the month, Villa could even opt for the same 11 to make amends.
Burnley continue to field the same 11 and are expected to do so in their final Premier League game. Dyche can’t fault the effort of his players, but a lack of spending has ultimately cost them.

Aston Villa to win @2.05
Manchester City (1.53) v Southampton (6.00); Draw (4.33)
Manchester City look to have done enough to have secured runners up spot despite not long ago being questioned as to whether they’d finish in the top four. A strong finish to the season has seen them jump above Manchester United and Arsenal, whilst Southampton can still finish as high as 5th.
Manuel Pellegrini has shrugged of some of his doubters at City and Joe Hart was a major part of their recent 4-2 win at Swansea with some crucial saves. Frank Lampard looks set to be given his last ever Premier League appearance before he jets off to America.
Vincent Kompany should return despite having to drop to the substitutes bench, but the Belgian must be wondering how given the performances of Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala at the best of times.
Shane Long made the most of his selection ahead of Eljero Elia as he scored two first half goals but was overshadowed by the fastest ever Premier League hat trick by Sadio Mane. Fraser Forster is side lined for a lengthy period in Ronald Koeman’s only serious injury concern.
Goals are often on show between these two sides, with Manchester City are usually pretty rampant at home.
