West Ham v Liverpool – Betting Preview

Premier League leaders Liverpool will be looking to reopen their five point lead at the top of the table as Jurgen Klopp’s side take on West Ham.

Sportingly Better takes an in-depth look at all the betting angles for Monday night’s game and why goals and highlights why favouring goals and siding with the away side may prove to have the most value.

Premier League Tips

West Ham (8.50) v Liverpool (1.50); Draw (3.50)

Hosts West Ham will be looking to reverse a run of three successive defeats with Premiership leaders Liverpool the visitors to the London Stadium on Monday night.

The Hammers could welcome back Lukasz Fabianski back in goal after suffering an arm injury, although striker Mark Arnautovic and defender Aaron Cresswell both face late fitness tests and could join a series of long-term absentees on the sidelines.

Manuel Pellegrini’s will be buoyed by the fact that his side beat Arsenal in their last outing at London Stadium and the Hammers will be looking to improve on a run that has seen just one defeat in their last six matches at home.

Backing the Hammers may find some backers and you can get 8.50 across a number of different betting sites according to betting.org.

West Ham failed to register a shot on target in their latest defeat to Wolves last time out and an FA Cup defeat to League One side AFC Wimbledon is hardly the best preparation to welcome the league leaders on Monday night.

Visitors Liverpool missed a golden opportunity last time out to extend their lead even further following Manchester City’s defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park, but The Reds could only manage a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Leicester.

Liverpool will be conscious they still have to visit Old Trafford as well as welcoming both Tottenham and Chelsea to Anfield, so The Reds will be mindful not to let any further opportunities slip.

Manager Jurgen Klopp could welcome back Dejan Lovren and Fabinho to the squad, whilst James Milner will return following suspension.

The Premier League leaders have won their last four Premier League matches against West Ham, scoring exactly four goals in each of those victories to boot and an equally rampant scoring return would reinforce their credentials as the team still to beat this year.

Verdict

Liverpool have kept just one clean sheet in their last six games and given West Ham’s encouraging recent home displays means the league leaders may not have it all their own way.

Liverpool should edge this one, but goals are the strongest play for Monday night’s game at the London Stadium.
