Saturday’s early kick-off in the Premiership is the reverse of last season’s opening fixture when Manchester United won 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium, with goals from Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck.
The Red Devils have never lost a league game at home to Swansea (W9, D2), with the Swans also yet to beat Manchester United in the Premier League era (D1, L5).
Swansea will have a very different back line-up this time around and Garry Monk’s side will need time to gel over the course of the season. This will be a very tough experience for the Welsh side at the Theatre of Dreams, with a lot expected from Louis van Gaal’s debut as Manchester United manager.
The Red Devils go into Saturday’s match having never lost a Premier League game at Old Trafford on the opening weekend (W8, D3) of the football season. Despite a poor season under David Moyes, Manchester United did not lose a single game from a winning position last season; something that may be a consideration on the in-play betting markets..
Swansea on the other hand have lost seven of their last eight opening-day fixtures, but the Welsh side did win their last two away games last season and won’t roll over at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The feel good factor at Old Trafford seems to be back and despite Luke Shaw’s recent injury, the Red Devils should record a comfortable victory this weekend.
