Premiership Predictions – 31 August – 1 September

An inspired performance by Ben Foster scuppered our selection on Everton, but Arsenal’s convincing win at Fulham meant we returned profit from our Premier League predictions this weekend.

Sportingly Better picks out the best value Premiership predictions and football betting tips this time out, as Arsenal host Tottenham.

Premiership Predictions

West Ham (1.95) v Stoke (4.33); Draw (3.50)

West Ham will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season after a goalless draw with Newcastle last time out.

The Hammers carry a good home record in the Premiership in recent years, with the east London club having not lost any of their last six matches at Upton Park.

Striker Andy Carroll remains sidelined, so Modibo Maiga may once again be given the opportunity to lead the line up front.

Joey O’Brien’s withdrawal from the Republic of Ireland squad could lead to Razvan Rat making his first start for Sam Allardyce’s side as the Hammers look to pick up their third consecutive clean sheet of the season.

Visitors Stoke have failed to win 27 of their last 29 matches away from home in the Premier League, but a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday will have buoyed Mark Hughes’ side.

The Potters have a clean bill of health for the visit to Upton Park this weekend, so Hughes could name the same XI that navigated their way past the Eagles at the Britannia Stadium.

Goals may be in short supply on Saturday, with five of Stoke’s last six away games having all finished with two goals or less, but Kenwyne Jones did manage to fire in a hat-trick in the Capital One Cup during the week.

Hosts West Ham will be looking to make home form count this weekend and the Hammers should pick up all three points against their poor travelling opponents on Saturday.

West Ham to win @1.95

Arsenal (2.15) v Tottenham (3.50); Draw (3.60)

Tottenham maintained their 100% start to the season with a narrow 1-0 win over Swansea on Sunday, but the north London club have yet to score from open play in the Premier League this season.

Summer signing Roberto Soldado has bedded in well with consecutive goals from the spot giving the Spain international encouragement for his debut season, but it’s Andros Townsend who looks set to benefit from Gareth Bale’s departure, after impressing for Andre Villas-Boas’ side this season.

Tottenham have scored at least two goals in each of their last six matches against Arsenal in all competitions and the summer arrivals of Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Nace Chadli and Etienne Capoue will all be looking to impress in their first north London derby.

Hosts Arsenal secured Champions League qualification with a comfortable 5-0 aggregate victory over Fenerbahce on Tuesday and the Gunners will be targeting their second win in succession after sweeping aside Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal carry a strong record at home against their rivals and are undefeated in 16 of their last 17 matches at home against Tottenham in all competitions, but Andre Villas-Boas’ side will be full of confidence after sweeping aside Dinamo Tblisi in the Europa League qualifiers.

Arsene Wenger’s side will be without Thomas Vermaelen, Mikel Arteta, Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this weekend, but Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere both look likely to overcome their knocks.

Arsenal have scored at least two goals in each of their last five home matches against Tottenham in all competitions and another goal-laden north London derby looks in prospect on Sunday.
