Premiership Football Betting Tips – Gameweek 14

A tasty North London derby kicks of round 14 of the English Premier League as Chelsea and Man Utd try to get back to winning ways.

Fernando Torres’s record at Anfield is imperious. The Spanish striker has scored 44 goals in 47 Premiership games. Torres also seems to have a knack of scoring against West Ham having scored 5 goals in 4 games. West Ham are in a bad way at the moment and are without a win in 7 games. Added to this is their generally poor away form and record against Liverpool where they haven’t won since 1963 and scored just 4 goals in 15 games at Anfield. Another point is the hand of Gerrard and Torres in all but one of Liverpools goals this season and with the skipper out for the next month, all the burden and stats seem to point to Torres goals this Saturday. Torres to score two or more goals at 4.75 and the longer shot of a hatrick or more of 17.00 are enticing, but the safe return is on the anytime scorer market.

Fernando Torres to score anytime @1.8

The parallels between Man Utd and Wigan could not be greater. Man Utd have scored at least twice in 11 of their 13 league games and have the highest conversion rate of shots to goals of 17%. Wigan are the Premier Leagues lowest scorers having found the back of the net only 10 times. They also have the lowest conversion rate of shots to goals of 7%. This obvious disparity brings rise to the value in the handicap market. Man Utd -1 at 1.6 is a safe bet, but with the possible game time of Rooney I fancy Man Utd to dispatch Wigan with some authority come 5 o’clock.

Man Utd -2 @2.6

On Sunday Aston Villa travel to now Indian-owned Blackburn Rovers. Last weekend there were late goals and drama at Villa Park and the scene and statistics look set to repeat itself. Aston Villa have conceded 5 goals in the last 5 minutes of matches this season and 6 goals have been scored in the last 6 minutes of the last 6 meetings between the clubs.

Late Goal (goal after 70:59) @1.83

Long shot: Birmingham v Chelsea 0-0 @ 10.0
