Premier League Tips – 19-20 December

It was a full house of Premier League bets last weekend as a win for Arsenal and goals for both Bournemouth and Manchester United returned a profit of 1.38 points.

This week our Premier League tips come from St James Park as Newcastle host Aston Villa and at Southampton as Tottenham visit St Mary’s.

Premier League Betting Tips

Southampton (2.60) v Tottenham (2.70); Draw (3.25)

Southampton have had a terrible run of late, after four defeats in their last five games and the visit of Spurs this weekend does not make Ronald Koeman’s task to overturn their fortunes any easier.

The Saints sit in 12th position, which is in stark contrast to last year where there was even talk of Champions League football at St.Mary’s.

Visitors Tottenham suffered a first league defeat since the opening day of the season after throwing away the lead at home to Newcastle, which leaves them three points off 4th place Manchester United who thankfully for them lost to Bournemouth.

In truth Mauricio Pochettino’s side have drawn far too many games this season with eight draws and six victories.

Champions League football may still be out of their reach, but the club have been one of the more steadier outfits this season and are quietly progressing under Pochettino.

The last three meetings at St.Mary’s has seen an average of four goals per game and a fairly open game could be a distinct possibility this weekend.

Newcastle United (2.00) v Aston Villa (3.75); Draw (3.40)

After gaining just 10 points from their first 14 Premier League games, Newcastle United have managed back-to-back victories against two of the better sides in the league. The 2-0 win over Liverpool at St.James Park was followed up by a win over in-form Tottenham on Sunday.

Remi Garde continues to be up against it at Villa Park, with the new manager failing to win any of his opening five games as manager.

The club having failed to taste victory since victory over Bournemouth on the opening day of the season and that lack of winning feeling appears to be harder and harder to get to. Villa have just six points currently in the league.

The hosts are the joint lowest scorers in the league with 13 goals, but Saturday’s match is Garde’s first game against a side that is in the bottom half of the table.

Hosts Newcastle United have won four out of the last five meetings against Aston Villa and the Magpies are well priced to continue their current spate of momentum.
