Premier League Predictions – 15th & 16th Jan

A trio of fierce derby rivalries dominate the Premiership fixtures with the Second City Derby between Birmingham and Aston Villa, the Tyne and Wear Derby with Sunderland and Newcastle and the Merseyside Derby of Liverpool and Everton all taking place.

Relegation threatened Wigan welcome Fulham to the DW Stadium who have only won once away from Craven Cottage. With Zamora and Dembele both still sidelined, Mark Hughes’ side are lacking firepower at present although they did manage 3 goals in their last game against West Brom. Away from home though and the goals go in at less than 1 a game and this is a real concern for Fulham fans. The same can be said for Wigan and Roberto Martinez with only 10 goals in 11 games at the DW. On-loan Tom Cleverly and Hugo Rodallega are the main source of goals although both players have not scored in the last 3 Premier League games. Incredibly 21 out of 24 head to head meetings in all competitions between these two sides has finished with less than 3 goals and this match is set to add to this incredible statistic.

Under 2.5 goals (Wigan v Fulham) @1.61

Over at the Hawthorns Roberto Di Matteo prepares his side for the visit of the Tangerines where both sides have scored in the last 8 meetings. Blackpool won the reverse 2-1 at Bloomfield Road earlier in the season and both sides will believe they can win this one and should employ an attacking mentality. Over 2.5 goals might also be a consideration where 60% of West Brom’s home games and 6 out of their last 7 Premiership games have all gone over this mark.

Both teams to score (West Brom v Blackpool) @1.57
