Midweek Premier League Betting Tips – 1st Feb & 2nd Feb

The football calendar in February begins with a full list of midweek fixtures as relegation clashes between Blackpool v West Ham and West Brom v Wigan will leave the victors with a valuable 3 points for survival.

West Brom have addressed their over-reliance on forward Peter Odemwingie in the January transfer window with the loan acquisition of Mexican striker Carlos Vela from Arsenal. West Brom’s last match at the Hawthorns resulted in 3 points and a victory over Blackpool, the Baggies only win in 7 Premier League games. Tuesday’s opponents Wigan have been struggling to score this season; scoring less than a goal a game on average.  But Wigan put in a good performance in the FA Cup, which they will take heart from and have scored at least one goal in 5 of their last 7 matches in the Premiership. Every encounter between these two sides at the Hawthorns has had both teams scoring and this game should be open enough for the same in this relegation ‘6 pointer’.

Manchester United are back at Old Trafford where they have won 11 out of their 12 Premier League matches this season. Visitors Aston Villa surprisingly won this fixture last season with Gabby Agbonlahor’s goal the difference, but that match was the only one in 7 Old Trafford meetings that Aston Villa have avoided defeat and the only match that featured less than 3 goals.

Aston Villa seem to have a bit more stability and ambition about them in recent weeks with Randy Lerner’s cheque book open and Gerard Houllier beginning to build his own team.  Darren Bent is a proven goalscorer and Agbonlahor always seems to give Vidic a tough time. Added to that is the form again of Dimitar Berbatov and this match has goals written all over it.
