Football Accumulator Tips – 1 January

Selections from the Premiership, Championship and Football League make up the football bets for this week’s football accumulator tips on Sportingly Better, returning odds of 9.97.

Accumulator Tips

Mansfield (3.00) v Burton (2.55); Draw (3.30)

A 1-0 victory over Newport moved the Brewers level on points with league leaders Chesterfield, as Gary Rowett’s side maintained their seven match unbeaten run in League Two.

Burton remain low scorers  in the league with eight matches having been won by a 1-0 scoreline, but a similar result could leave the away side top of League Two moving into 2014.

Opponents Mansfield picked up their first win since September after a 2-1 victory over Cheltenham last time out, but the threat of being relegated from of the Football League still remains a chief worry.

Burton have won five of their last seven matches in League Two and the odds of a seventh away victory offer real value on Wednesday.

Ipswich (1.90) v Charlton (4.50); Draw (3.60)

A 1-1 draw with Bournemouth edged the Tractor Boys into the play-off places last time out, as Ipswich continued their recent resurgence.

Mick McCarthy’s side have now gone seven matches without defeat in the Championship and victory on Wednesday could reinforce the club’s hopes of a top-six finish this season.

Visitors Charlton are subject to an international takeover, but a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth last weekend, edged the club a little further away from the drop zone.

Ipswich have won four out of their last seven matches in the league and the home side will need to beat the likes of Charlton at home if they are to finish in the play-off places again this season.

Southampton (4.00) v Chelsea (2.05); Draw (3.50)

A 2-1 victory over Liverpool kept Chelsea within two points of league leaders Arsenal, as Jose Mourinho’s side continue to enjoy the festive period.

Chelsea’s away form continues to attract scrutiny, but the Blues have scored two or more goals in their last three games away from home in the Premier League.

Hosts Southampton continued to tumble down the table, with a 2-1 defeat at Goodison Park.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side could welcome back Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield but double-pivot partner Victor Wanyama remains sidelined.

Chelsea are undefeated in nine of their last 10 matches against Southampton in all competitions and although the hosts have a habit of scoring on the south coast, the visitors should come away with a crucial victory on New Year’s Day.
