Christmas Premier League Predictions – 28th Dec & 29th Dec

Boxing Day finally saw a return to action for most of the Premiership and the games come thick and fast with Manchester City bidding to mount a serious title challenge and West Ham looking to put a relegation battling run together.

Liverpool should have  their star duo Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard suitably rested and raring to go at Anfield and we all know what that means. Today’s visitors to Anfield are relegation threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers; a side who have not won away all season and notching up a paltry 5 goals along the way. If they are to survive the drop it will be their home form that will save them.  Losing Jamie Carragher until February is a blow for Liverpool but they will take heart from a head to head record where they have won 13 out of the last 14 home games; a quite phenomenal record. 10 of these victories they have won to nil and so far Liverpool have only let slip in 6 goals at home this season.

Liverpool to win to nil @2.1

Fulham travel away from Craven Cottage to the Potteries to take on a Stoke side who are again fairing well in this division and quietly going about their business. Stoke’s style of football is slightly evolving this season under Tony Pulis with the inclusion of wide men such as Pennant and Etherington, but still rarely muster more than 1 or 2 goals a game. The lack of a proven 20 goal-a-season scorer is a problem and the draw specialists Fulham have similar goal scoring issues currently with Dembele and Zamora both sidelined. Incredibly in this fixture only 1 of the last 9 meetings has gone over the 2.5 goals mark. Only 1 of Fulhams last 8 games and only 2 of Stoke’s last 6 games in the Premier League has gone over this mark and I wouldn’t be surprised if this game features towards the end of Match Of The Day.

Under 2.5 goals (Stoke vs Fulham) @1.7
