Liverpool and Everton play twice during Gameweek 28.
Captain Choices
Robin Van Persie (ARS)
Arsenal’s talisman yet again proved how vital he is to the Gunners with an excellently taken brace that secured all three points at Anfield during Gameweek 27. Van Persie has now scored six goals in his last four games to take his goal tally up to 25 for the season, seven goals ahead of Wayne Rooney. In terms of contribution only Emmanuel Adebayor has made more assists as a forward than Van Persie this season and the prolific Dutchman also has amassed 33 bonus points, 12 more than any other player in the Premier League. Opponents this week are Newcastle who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four games and have conceded 24 goals on the road this season.
Wayne Rooney (MUN)
With five goals in four games, Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney illustrated his contribution and worth to the Red Devils during a run of tough games for the Premiership champions. Rooney will relish teaming up again with Ashley Young, who has been out of action through injury, with the two linking up well at the start of the season. Gameweek 28 opponents are West Brom who have won three games on the bounce and have also been better away from home so far this season, but Rooney scored and picked up three bonus points in the reverse fixture at the Hawthorns, which Manchester United won 2-1.
Luis Suarez (LIV)
With Liverpool playing twice in Gameweek 28, Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez will be a likely choice amongst many fantasy managers. The 2-1 defeat by Arsenal last weekend, masked what was actually a good performance by Liverpool and with a double Gameweek against Sunderland and then a Merseyside derby against Everton, Suarez will be looking to add to his six Premier League goals. The likely return of Steven Gerrard in midfield will also improve Suarez’s chances of scoring for the Reds.
Fantasy Football Transfers
Ashley Young (MUN) – £9.6m
The England midfielder scored an excellent brace last time out and has now picked up consecutive assists in the last two gameweeks. Manchester United now have a decent run of fixtures until the end of the season and Young will likely feature in the crucial end of season run-in for the current Premier League champions. Young also made two goals when Manchester United last faced West Brom in the reverse fixture back in August.
Grant Holt (NOR) – £5.1m
With relegation threatened Wigan Athletic the visitors to Carrow Road, striker Grant Holt is well placed to increase his current goal tally of ten Premier League goals. Holt has scored three goals in three games for the Canaries and with Newcastle, Fulham, Wolves and Everton opponents over the next few gameweeks, Grant Holt may provide good value at £5.1m.
