Cardiff captain Mark Hudson is a doubt with a calf problem and could face a fitness test and midfielder Stephen McPhail may not feature but goalkeeper Tom Heaton should return between the sticks for the Bluebirds.
For Liverpool Daniel Agger is set to return to the starting line up after being rested last time out in the 6-1 victory over Brighton in the FA Cup. Former Cardiff favourite Craig Bellamy may feature despite a back problem.

Championship side Cardiff City face the most successful club in League Cup history and unsurprisingly Liverpool are short priced favourites to win the first major silverware of the season.
Going into the weekend Cardiff sit 5th in the Football League Championship, seven points off leaders West Ham but Malky Mackay’s side have lost three out of their last four games in the league.
Liverpool have lost three out of the last five games in the league but have come through a much tougher route to the final edging passed Manchester City in the semi-final and beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the quarter final. Cardiff’s only opponents of note have been Premier League side Blackburn Rovers and the Welsh side have needed extra time twice along with penalties to secure their place at Wembley.
