Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 6

Robin Van Persie’s match-winning spot kick against Liverpool left the Dutch forward as the leading goalscorer in the Premier League with five goals. Sunderland’s Steven Fletcher continued his rich vein of form, whilst unsettled striker Demba Ba staked his claim to start as an out-and-out striker with the winner against Norwich at the Sports Direct Arena.

Elsewhere Leighton Baines proved his worth for fantasy managers with his second assist and ninth bonus point of the season and Santi Cazorla picked up his third successive assist against Manchester City.

Sportingly Better picks out the captain choices and fantasy football transfers for managers during Gameweek 6.

Captain Choices

Robin Van Persie (MUN)

Robin Van Persie helped himself to his fifth goal in as many matches for Manchester United after scoring the winner against Liverpool last weekend.

The current Premier League top goalscorer will likely be rested for tonight’s Capital One Cup clash with Newcastle leaving the former Arsenal striker refreshed for Saturday’s match against Tottenham at Old Trafford.

Van Persie was on the score sheet against Spurs in February as Arsenal ran out 5-2 winners and the Dutch forward will be the main danger for Andre Villas-Boas who has made a slow start at White Hart Lane.

Leighton Baines (EVE)

Leighton Baines has started the season brightly for Everton who themselves have begun the season well. One goal, two assists and nine bonus points highlights the attacking contribution of the England left back.

Opponents Southampton have the worst defensive record in the Premier League and although the Saints have only failed to score once this season, Baines’ forays down the left hand side could prove dangerous for Neil Adkins’ side on Saturday.

Transfer Tips

Steven Fletcher (SUN) – £7.2m

The Scottish striker continued his goalscoring run for Sunderland after scoring the opener against West Ham last weekend. Four goals in three games leaves Fletcher second to Ashley Cole as the most in-form player in the Premier League and the visit to the DW Stadium should provide Fletcher with plenty of opportunities, with Wigan conceding two or more goals in four of their five games this season.

Fletcher has picked up three bonus points every gameweek so far and with the Black Cats enjoying a good run of fixtures over the next two months, the Scottish striker could prove a useful addition to many fantasy sides.

Demba Ba (NEW) – £7.9m

After a spell out of position on the left, Demba Ba has shown his worth up front with three goals in two games. The Senegalese striker has a total of four goals after netting on the opening day of the season, whilst Ba’s contribution has also earned himself nine bonus points for the Magpies.

Newcastle make the trip to Reading this weekend who are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League and Ba should have the beating of the Royals’ back line to extend his run of goals in the North East.

Peter Crouch (STK) – £6.5m

England striker Peter Crouch has featured heavily for the Potters this season despite the arrival of Michael Owen. Crouch has scored twice for Stoke including last time out at the Britannia Stadium against Manchester City and the striker is well placed to hit double figures again in the Premier League this season.

Opponents Swansea have conceded five goals without reply in their last two league games and Crouch will be hoping to secure Stoke’s first win of the season against Michael Laudrup’s Swans.
