Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 1

Sportingly Better picks out the best fantasy football tips for Gameweek 1, as Premier League champions Leicester travel to newly promoted Hull.

Captain Choices

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (MUN)

The self-proclaimed “God” of Manchester United picked up his first piece of silverware in England outjumping Wes Morgan to meet an Antonio Valencia cross to give Jose Mourinho’s side a 2-1 victory over Premier League Champions Leicester.

Priced at £11.5m, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will likely spearhead the Red Devil’s attack for some time over the first eight gameweeks of the season and with an away tie at Bournemouth, Zlatan could continue to cause a stir in the Premier League this weekend.

Sergio Aguero (MCI)

The arrival of Pep Guardiola at Eastlands should continue to serve the output of Argentina international Sergio Aguero, with the Citizens movement and attacking flair set to continue under the talented continental coach.

At £13.0m Aguero remains the most expensive player to draft in and after another successful campaign last time out which saw the striker score 24 goals, Aguero remains more than a luxury addition for most fantasy managers.

After just missing out on the Premier League Golden Boot last year, Aguero will be eager to get off to a scoring start with David Moyes’ Sunderland the visitors to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Transfer Tips

John Stones (MCI) – £5.0m

Manchester City’s purchase of England centre back John Stones at £47.5 million may have made the former Everton defender the second most expensive defender in history, but the talented player provides huge fantasy value in getting into Pep Guardiola’s backline.

Guardiola earmarked Stones as a ball-playing defender to help his new side play from the back alongside potential makeshift defender Fernando, but the England international did have an inconsistent and poor campaign last time out under Roberto Martinez and Everton.

Stones is expected to be a first team regular for the Citizens and at £5.0m will surely see his stock rise after Gameweek 1.

Andre Ayew (WHU) – £7.5m

A recent £20.5 million capture for the Hammers, Ghana international Andre Ayew will be expecting to spearhead Slaven Bilic’s maturing side when West Ham kick-off the new season at the Olympic Stadium.

Ayew scored 12 goals and made 5 assists for Swansea last time out and with star turn Dimitri Payet in support, Ayew would be expected to at least match those returns for the London side this campaign.

ON THE WATCHLIST

  • Andre Gray (BUR)  – £6.5m
  • Luke Shaw (MUN) – £5.5m
