Fantasy Football Premier League Tips – Gameweek 18

This season is proving to be the most competitive we have seen for a long while, as shown by the three promoted sides currently occupying comfortable mid-table positions as we approach Christmas. There have been many shocks and upsets so far this season and it is still open to debate who will be relegated, as there have been no whipping boys this season. Consequently, fantasy players have been seriously undervalued at the beginning of the season and there are still bargains to be had. This week, I’ve decided to pick out some bargain players which offer great value for their actual transfer price:

Joey Barton (4.6m) – Having been out for the last 4 matches, Barton returned with an inspirational performance to remind us that despite his fiery temper, he is a top footballer collecting the maximum 3 bonus points and a goal against Liverpool. At 4.6m, he is ridiculously cheap and I wouldn’t expect his price to remain that low for much longer. At his current value, he could also be utilised as a squad player, warming the bench against stronger opposition whilst coming into your starting line up against the weaker teams.

Chris Brunt (5.6m) – West Brom are another promoted team that are performing very admirably since the start of the season and it has a lot to do with the performances of Brunt, having collected 79 points so far. He is currently in a rich vein of form with 3 assists and a goal in his previous 3 matches, collecting 2 bonus points in the process. With West Brom looking to strengthen further in the January transfer window, Brunt could play a starring role in a season where West Brom halt their yoyo status.

Yaya Toure (5.2m) – Having tipped his brother last week and barring a late consolation goal from Tomkins, Man City would have collected another clean sheet, this week I’ve come back for Yaya. This giant of a midfielder possesses good balance and has recently shown what he can do with his driving runs and an unstoppable shot against West Ham last weekend. At 5.2m, he is an absolute bargain and is likely to reward you with more impressive performances.

Andy Carroll (6.3m) – Despite the shock sacking of Chris Hughton, Newcastle pulled a very impressive performance out of the bag beating Liverpool 3-1  and Carroll had a big part to play with a goal and an assist. Currently the joint highest points scorer alongside Nani, a quick glance at his history shows why, with his performances being littered with goals, assists and bonus points. If he continues at this rate, Newcastle will surely be safe from relegation and challenging in the top half of the table. At 6.3m, he is another snippet for teams looking to free up funds or are on the hunt for a bargain striker.
