Fantasy Football Premier League Tips – Gameweek 19

After last week’s washout from the crazy weather, I imagine we’re all looking to make up some points. With only three matches being played, a close eye should be kept on when the rearranged matches are due to be played as double gameweeks can lead to a massive points haul. With four gameweeks coming thick and fast over the next fortnight, I can not stress the importance of having a full squad of first team players, as managers will definitely look to mix it up and freshen up their teams to avoid fatigue. Players to watch out for over the festive period include:

Leighton Baines (7.4m) – Despite coming at quite a high cost Baines is an interesting option for his ability to push forward and supply quality crosses. He is also in control for the majority of set pieces and with players like Cahill hanging around the box, Baines could pick up some assists over the Christmas period.

Aleksandar Kolarov (5.7m) – Kolarov seems to have taken control of the left back position for Man City, who have been quite impressive defensively this season. Despite the setback against Everton, I can see Man City picking up more clean sheets along the way. Similar to Baines, Kolarov has the chance of picking up some assists from being in charge of corners and most set pieces, which makes him a more attractive defensive option.

Phil Bardsley (4.5m) – A cheaper defensive option comes in the form of Bardsley. Despite facing Man United in the next gameweek, Bardsley could be a useful squad addition for the forthcoming busy festive period, as Sunderland face Blackpool, Blackburn and Aston Villa. Bardsley has benefited from a busy summer as he underwent a gruelling fitness regime in a boxing gym and has reaped the rewards by becoming a regular starter for Sunderland, who have conceded none in their last three league matches.
