European Football Tips For The Weekend 16th & 17th April

Stuttgart are just two points above the relegation zone and face a very real threat and possibility of relegation from the Bundesliga. Last time out Die Roten let a 2-1 lead slip to twelfth placed Kaiserslautern eventually losing 4-2. But Bruno Labbadia’s side does contain goals, especially away from home with Pogrebnyak, Harnik and Kuzmanovic all contributing to 10 goals in the last 5 away games.

Opponents this weekend are Cologne, who have an imperious record at the Rhein Energie Stadion winning 9 out of 14 home games, thanks in no small part to the forward partnership of German Lukas Podolski and Slovenian Milivoje Novakovic who have netted 25 of Die Geißböcke’s 39 goals this season. Cologne’s last 4 games have finished with an average of 4.75 goals and with Stuttgart battling relegation this should be another game full of goals.

Napoli are still going strong in Serie A and are just 3 points behind AC Milan as they hunt for the scudetto. The Partenopei have won four on the bounce and have a formidable record at Stadio San Paolo this season winning 11 out of 16 games and losing just twice. Cavani is still Walter Mazzari’s shining light notching up 25 goals so far this season, 17 of which have come at home.

Sunday’s opponents this weekend are Udinese and Francesco Guidolin’s side will have to do without the services of star duo – Chilean Alexis Sanchez and captain Antonio Di Natale. Udinese have slipped in recent weeks losing to both Lecce and Roma and with Napoli challenging for the title, Napoli should pick up a valuable three points and keep the pressure on leaders AC Milan.
