Capital One Cup Betting Tips – 17-18 December

The Capital One Cup quarter finals take centre stage in English football this week, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United all in contention for the season’s first taste of silverware.

Sportingly Better picks out the best football predictions and football betting tips this week, as Leicester host Manchester City.

Capital One Cup Predictions

Leicester (7.50) v Manchester City (1.44); Draw (5.00)

Manchester City will be looking to cap an impressive week of football on Tuesday, with Leicester City the opponents in the Capital One Cup.

Sunday’s 6-3 victory over league leaders Arsenal demonstrated the Citizens attacking ferocity once again, but a month-long injury to star striker Sergio Aguero will have took some of the gloss of the win.

Manchester City have won all four of their away matches in cup competitions this season; stark contrast to their form away from home in the Premier League, where Manuel Pellegrini’s side have scored 35 goals in their opening eight games at the Etihad Stadium.

Fringe players Edin Dzeko, James Milner, Jack Rodwell, Javi Garcia and Alexander Kolarov may all come in for Manchester City, who have won six of their last seven League Cup meetings against lower-division opposition in this competition.

Hosts Leicester picked up a point against former leaders Burnley, last Saturday, but this weekend’s Championship clash with QPR may take precedent for Nigel Pearson’s side.

The likes of Andy King, Dean Hammond, Ignasi Miquel and Gary Taylor-Fletcher could all get their chance against one of the most fearsome sides on the continent, with a full crowd expected at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester have not won any of their last seven home meetings against Manchester City in all competitions and the Premier League side should continue their impressive form with another high-scoring victory on Tuesday.

Tottenham (1.44) v West Ham (8.00); Draw (4.75)

Tottenham begin life after Andre Villas-Boas, with West Ham the visitors to White Hart Lane in the Capital One Cup.

Interim head coach Tim Sherwood will take charge of tonight’s proceedings and any hope of securing the job on a permanent basis will depend firmly on tonight’s performance and qualification into the semi-finals of the competition.

Spurs will be without captain Michael Dawson and Brazilian pair Sandro and Paulinho, but Younes Kaboul, Christian Eriksen and Danny Rose could all return for the north London side.

Tottenham have won just one of their last six matches in the Premier League at home, but in the League Cup Spurs boast a formidable record and have suffered just one defeat in their last 19 games at White Hart Lane.

Opponents West Ham were surprise 3-0 winners in the same fixture in the Premier League back in October to pick up arguably their best result of the season, but since then the Hammers have continued to struggle for form and goals.

Andy Carroll remains on the sidelines, whilst Mladen Petric, Ricardo Vaz Te, Stewart Downing and Winston Reid all miss out through injury. Captain Kevin Nolan also serves the second of a three match suspension.

West Ham have won just two games away from Upton Park in all competitions this season and the chance of lightning striking twice looks particularly slim this time around given the Hammers injuries.

After last weekend’s 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool, Tottenham will be eager to bounce back at the first time of asking, with Sherwood and co hoping to prove they have what it takes to take the club forward.
