Weekend Football Tips – 26-27 January

With the FA Cup again disrupting the Premier League and Championship calendar, Sportingly Better analyses the best bets from the remaining games in the Football League.

Our football tips for the weekend come from the East Midlands as Nottingham Forest host high-flying Watford.

Football Predictions This Weekend

Nottingham Forest (2.50) v Watford (2.87); Draw (3.60)

Last weekend’s 4-0 victory over Huddersfield not only highlighted Watford’s promotion credentials, but also the attacking threat that the Pozzo-enriched squad now carries.

Matej Vydra‘s two goals against the Terriers pushed the striker’s tally in the Championship to 16 goals for the season and the Udinese loan signing could follow Fernando Forestieri’s footsteps in making a permanent switch to Vicarage Road. Vydra has scored two goals in four of his last five games in the league and the Forest defence will need to keep a close eye on the Czech Republic international.

The Hornets are actually the Championship’s top scorers and Gianfranco Zola’s side have scored in each of their last 12 matches in the league. Watford also boast a fine away record, winning seven of 13 matches on the road, including victories in three of their last four away matches in the Championship..

Hosts Nottingham Forest are still finding their way under Alex McLeish, but the newly appointed manager will be hopeful of reaching the playoffs after recruiting loanees Gonzalo Jara and Elliot Ward, as well as the permanent signature of Darius Henderson from Millwall in recent weeks.

Nottingham Forest have won three of their last four league games at the City Ground; scoring two or more goals in each of those matches, so the betting odds on over 2.5 goals at 1.80 look strong.

Watford beat Forest 2-0 at Vicarage Road last month and the high-flying Hornets will be hopeful of extending their excellent away record in the Championship.
