Weekend Football Tips – 17-18 November
Our football tips this weekend continue from Europe, where Juventus bounced back from their defeat against Inter with a resounding 6-1 victory at Pescara.
Fiorentina proved they are more than just Steven Jovetic, with the Viola producing a comfortable 2-1 victory against troubled AC Milan. Inter slipped to defeat away at in-form Atalanta, whilst there were further defeats for Sampdoria and Genoa.
Runaway leaders Bayern Munich picked up their tenth win in 11 games with a 2-0 win over Frankfurt, but wins for Schalke and Dortmund ensured Die Roten did not extend their lead any further. Wolfsburg inflicted a surprise defeat on in-form Bayer Leverkusen, whilst there were yet more woes for Augsburg who again lost in the Bundesliga.
The top three clubs in Spain all won last weekend, meaning it’s as you were in La Liga. Mallorca’s poor run of form continued with their sixth straight defeat. Elsewhere there were wins for Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao, as both clubs climbed up the table.
Over in France the race for the Ligue 1 title is wide open with four points separating the top nine sides in the division. PSG, Lyon and Marseille only managed to draw, so wins for Saint Etienne, Valenciennes and Lille brought all three clubs into the mix. Nancy and Troyes continue to be cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
Weekend Football Predictions
Napoli (1.83) v AC Milan (4.20); Draw (3.50)
The reign of Masssimiliano Allegri appears to be all but over at AC Milan, as a 3-1 defeat at home to Fiorentina left the Rossoneri in 13th place.
The form of Stephan El Shaarawy has been one of the only bright lights of AC Milan’s troubled season and the Pharaoh added to his eight goals in Serie A with his first international goal with Italy in the week. The Rossoneri still contain a valid goal threat going forward, but the defeat last weekend was Milan’s sixth of the season.
The sales over the summer have deeply ruptured the club and the performances and quality of Antonio Nocerino, Christian Abbiati and Daniel Bonera have come into question. AC Milan also go into Saturday night’s game with a host of injuries.
Hosts Napoli kept their Scudetto hopes alive with a 4-2 victory at Genoa, their eighth win of the season.
Unsurprisingly the duo of Marek Hamsik and Edinson Cavani have been crucial for Walter Mazzarri this season, with the two players contributing to 13 of the Partenopei’s 20 goals.
Napoli’s form in Naples has again been strong this season and only Torino have taken points off Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.
Napoli are undefeated in their last nine home matches in Serie A and the price on a win in Naples looks inviting against a declining AC Milan side.
