Weekend Football Tips – 12-13 January
Cardiff pulled seven points clear at the top of the Championship following a 1-0 victory over Birmingham at St Andrews.
Wins for Crystal Palace and Leicester maintained the pressure on Hull who occupy the second automatic promotion spot, whilst Peterborough continued their recent resurgence with a 2-1 victory over Barnsley.
Managerial changes at Wolves, Blackburn, Barnsley, Forest and Blackpool will all bring renewed hope for the second half of the season, as teams attempt to consolidate their standings in the Football League.
In League One Tranmere lead Doncaster on goal difference. Sheffield United, Brentford and Swindon all remain in close pursuit.
The resurgence at Bournemouth under Eddie Howe has brought the Cherries towards the brink of the play-offs, whilst Crewe and Coventry both enjoyed good runs over the festive period.
Gillingham top the table in League Two closely followed by Port Vale, with both sides set to earn automatic promotion this season.
Elsewhere Bristol Rovers, Plymouth, Wimbledon, Aldershot and Barnet are all in danger of exiting the football league.

Football Predictions This Weekend
Hull (1.66) v Sheffield Wednesday (5.75); Draw (4.00)
Hull’s 0-0 draw with Blackpool last time out extended the Tigers unbeaten to nine games in the Championship, as the Yorkshire club maintained their second placed position.
Manager Steve Bruce was unhappy with his side’s performance that day and was left disappointed by the 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup last weekend.
Bruce will be expecting a reaction from his Tigers and their record in the Championship at the KC Stadium this season has been good with eight victories in 13 games.
Hull’s success has been built on the strength of their defence and Bruce’s men have returned clean sheets in each of their last four home matches in the league.
New signings Robbie Brady and David Meyler will provide a much needed boost for Hull who have no new injury concerns ahead of their match on Saturday.
Visitors Sheffield Wednesday dropped into the relegation zone on goal difference following a 2-0 defeat at home to Burnley.
The Owls are the second lowest scorers in the Championship, but Dave Jones’ side did go on a run of three successive victories in December to postpone the likely swing of the executioners axe.
Sheffield Wednesday have lost seven out of 13 games away from Hillsborough this season, but the Owls could welcome back Jeremy Helan in midfield.
The last four meetings between the sides in all competitions have finished with less than two goals and the Tigers could sneak a low scoring win in the late kick-off on Saturday.
