Uruguay v Costa Rica – Football Tips

A 3-1 win for Chile against Australia in Group B last night saw us return 6.275 from 3 unit stakes, as Jorge Sampaio’s side kicked off their World Cup campaign with a win.

Sportingly Better takes a look at the best value football tips this weekend, as Uruguay take on Costa Rica in England’s World Cup group.

World Cup Betting Tips

Uruguay (1.45) v Costa Rica (9.50); Draw (4.33)

Uruguay will be looking to pick up a win in their opening match in Group D, with group rivals England and Italy set to meet in Manaus just a few hours later.

Oscar Tabarez has confirmed that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez will not start the match, so PSG striker Edinson Cavani is likely to be the focal point of la Celeste‘s attacks, despite being fielded out of position for much of the campaign by Laurent Blanc.

Uruguay have had their weaknesses defensively during the South American qualifying campaign, but going forward Uruguay remain full of goals with La Liga winning defender Diego Godin an attractive 23.00 to open the scoring this weekend.

Opponents Costa Rica proved solid defensively during qualification, but the Central American side relied somewhat heavily on Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas in goal.

Jorge Luis Pinto’s side do boast an interesting forward line of Bryan Ruiz and Joel Campbell, but los Ticos record away from Costa Rica was concerning.

The absence of Luis Suarez may have brought the line down on a Uruguay win and although the South American side are ageing and will not be at the same level four years ago, Oscar Tabarez’s side still appear well priced to pick up an opening win in the World Cup.
