Season Match Betting – Manchester City

Sportingly Better takes a look at the best value football predictions on Manchester City in the season betting market, with Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini targeting an unprecedented four-trophy haul in his first year in English football.

Season Match Betting – Manchester City

Manuel Pellegrini’s statement of intent last August lamenting that he had the best squad in the Premier League has arguably been proven right, with Manchester City still in the hunt for every single competition this term. The Citizens have coped well with injuries to some of their leading stars this season, with Manchester City having won seven and drawn one of their eight matches since Sergio Aguero tore a calf muscle against Arsenal back in December.Their form without captain Vincent Kompany was also unaffected with Manchester City winning 11, drawing two and losing just three games without the Belgium international, whilst David Silva saw Manchester City win seven out of 11 games during the playmakers absence last year.An injury to the somewhat rejuvenated Samir Nasri also looks unlikely to affect the Citizens trophy-chasing charge, but perhaps Manuel Pellegrini’s biggest test remains in the Champions League, with the Citizens having previously found difficulty in Europe under the stewardship of former boss Roberto Mancini.

Manchester City had arguably been dealt some relatively tough draws in the group stages as newcomers to the competition, but the Citizens 3-2 victory at European holders Bayern Munich showed that Manuel Pellegrini’s side can cut it with the best.

Manchester City v Barcelona is the game to watch out for in the knockout stages next month and although the Spanish giants are strong favourites for the match-up, it would be of little surprise to see Pellegrini’s free-scoring side prevail over two legs next month.

Strikers Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero have already reached double figures for the club this season and news that Stevan Jovetic could be available next month will only add weight to the Citizens attacking prowess and strength in depth.

Transfer movement in January is unlikely, but Joleon Lescott’s loan move away from the Etihad Stadium could see the club bring in further defensive cover.

A 60-game season is likely to await Manchester City this year, but the Citizens strength in depth will give the club the best possible chance of glory under Manuel Pellegrini this term and although a Champions League triumph remains arguably a stretch too far this campaign, the club look on course to collect a haul of domestic silverware come the end of May.
