Premiership Predictions – 7-8 May

Manchester City welcome West Brom to the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, but it is Wigan’s game against Swansea at the DW Stadium that holds the most significance tonight.

Sportingly Better picks out the best value Premiership predictions and football betting tips this week, as Chelsea host Tottenham.

Premiership Predictions

Chelsea (1.95) v Tottenham (4.00); Draw (3.75)

Juan Mata’s deflected goal three minutes from time gave Chelsea all three points on Sunday, leaving the Blues firmly in the driving seat for Champions League qualification.

Chelsea have won their last six matches at home in the Premier League and manager Rafa Benitez appears to have finally snapped his talented charges into gear coming into the business end of the season.

Eden Hazard could return from injury to replace Victor Moses in attack, in what is likely to be the only change for the Blues.

A win on Wednesday would all but secure Chelsea’s place in the Champions League next season and extend their lead over fifth-placed Tottenham to six points with just two games to play.

Chelsea have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven league matches at Stamford Bridge and the Blues attacking trio of Oscar, Hazard and Mata have clearly benefited from playing in over 60 games together this season.

Visitors Spurs are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Premiership, but recent performances against Wigan and Southampton in the league have been less than convincing.

Aaron Lennon and Moussa Dembele were both withdrawn on Saturday and could miss out to the trip on Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, so Tom Huddlestone and Lewis Holtby could enter the fray.

Tottenham are undefeated in 17 of their last 19 matches in the Premiership, but Andre Villas-Boas’ quest for Champions League football could hinge on this game, with Spurs sitting just two points behind north London rivals Arsenal.

Chelsea have never lost a match at home to Tottenham in the Premier League and Rafa Benitez’s in-form Blues side could virtually guarantee a top four finish with a win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
