Premiership Predictions 5th March & 6th March

Signs of encouragement are emanating out of Upton Park in recent weeks. A surprise 3-1 win over Liverpool has pulled the Hammers back into contention for survival. West Ham are in decent form going into the weekend losing just once in their last 6 fixtures in all competitions winning 4 in the process. A run that has seen West Ham scored 3 or more goals in 5 of those 6 games.

Saturday’s opponents Stoke have been inconsistent at best and if you take out Stoke’s FA Cup wins against Cardiff, Wolves and Brighton they have won only 1 of their last 6 Premier League games. This is a winnable game for Avram Grant and one which the Hammers should at least not lose.

West Ham 0AH (Asian Handicap) @1.575

Additional tip: Scott Parker to score anytime @5.5

Carling Cup runners up Arsenal have a raft of injuries yet again to key players coming into the business end of the season with Walcott, Fabregas and Van Persie all out injured. Midweek and Arsenal’s fringe players stepped up with Chamakh on the scoresheet and Bendtner grabbing a hat-trick in the FA Cup against Leyton Orient. Arsenal still have Nasri and Wilshere to call upon, as well as Arshavin who is actually only behind Nani in the assists chart in the Premiership this season.

Arsenal are still the most in-form side going into the Premier League winning 5 of their last 6 games, only dropping points against Newcastle in the 4-4 draw. Saturday’s opponents Sunderland have lost their last 4 games and life after Darren Bent is hitting the Black Cats hard. Despite the upcoming Champions League return in the Nou Camp, Arsenal might have a chance to close the gap against leaders Manchester United who face bitter rivals Liverpool and should record another win to extend Arsene Wenger’s run in the Premiership.

Goals are almost guaranteed at Bloomfield Road with only 1 game not returning 3 or more goals for the Tangerine Army. The early season fairytale seems to be well and truly over and the visit of Chelsea buoyed by their 2-1 win over leaders Manchester United couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Seasiders, who have won only 1 of their last 8 games.

Chelsea of course are intent on those all important Champions League places and with Frank Lampard back in the team, Ancelotti’s side look capable of doing so. Chelsea won earlier in the season 4-0 at Stamford Bridge and a similar result and scoreline might be on the cards for Monday’s game.

Chelsea -1 @1.66
