Premiership Predictions – 28-29 September

Newcastle’s defeat at home to Hull scuppered our Premier League betting double last weekend, but the Magpies were twice in front in that match, allowing you two opportunities to trade out and guarantee yourself profit.

Sportingly Better picks out the best value Premiership predictions and football betting tips this weekend, as Aston Villa host Manchester City.

Premiership Predictions

Aston Villa (6.50) v Manchester City (1.57); Draw (4.20)

Last Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium put the Citizens firmly back in the mindset of those doubting their Premier League title bid, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side looking increasingly menacing up front.

Goals from Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic,  Yaya Toure and Jesus Navas were enough to see the Citizens progress in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday and the Premier League top scorers will be hopeful of another attacking display against Aston Villa on Saturday, with the hosts having kept just one clean sheet in the league all season.

Sergio Aguero and David Silva are both unlikely to be risked this weekend, leaving Serbian forward Stevan Jovetic in line for his first Premier League start of the season.

Hosts Aston Villa were humbled by Tottenham in the Capital One Cup during the week, but the Villains did manage to pick up all three points against Paul Lambert’s former employers Norwich last time out in the Premier League.

The Midlands club will have to quickly come to terms with the absence of Christian Benteke who has been ruled out for at least a month, so Czech Republic striker Libor Kozak will likely lead the line after scoring the winner at Carrow Road last weekend.

Villa have lost both of their two games at home in the Premier League this term and doubts surrounding Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ciaran Clark and Fabian Delph look less than ideal preparation for Paul Lambert’s side.

Visitors Manchester City have won five of their last six matches against Aston Villa in all competitions and Pellegrini’s attack-minded side look set to secure a comfortable win after scoring nine goals in just three days this week.
