Premiership Predictions – 23-24 February
The Premier League returns to the football calendar this weekend, as champions Manchester City attempt to overhaul a 12 point deficit at the top of the table.
Sportingly Better picks out the best Premiership predictions this weekend as Reading host Wigan.
Premier League Betting Tips
Reading (2.62) v Wigan (2.87); Draw (3.40)
Royals manager Brian McDermott has insisted Saturday’s match with Wigan is not a six pointer, but a win for Reading could move the Berkshire club out of the relegation zone.
Reading have lost only two of their last eight matches in the Premiership and the form of Jimmy Kebe out wide in particular has been a key part for the Royals upturn in fortune.
Hope Akpan has settled in well since arriving from Crawley, but central midfield partner Mikele Leigterwood is doubtful for Saturday’s game.
Reading have been buoyant at home in recent weeks, scoring two or more goals in each of their last three matches at the Madejski Stadium, but defensively the Royals have not kept a clean sheet in their last six games in the league.
Visitors Wigan have the second worst defensive record in the Premiership and the Latics show no signs of producing any sort of form that could engineer another great escape for manager Roberto Martinez.
Emmerson Boyce and Antolin Alcaraz could both be in contention this weekend for Wigan who have conceded two or more goals in each of their last four matches in the league.
The return of Paul Scharner has been a smart move by Martinez and although Shaun Maloney has crept into some form, the Latics still remain without a win in six matches in the league.
Backing Reading on the Draw No Bet market @1.83 is a worthy selection, but both managers will be targeting a crucial three points on Saturday and goals could be on the cards at the Madejski Stadium this weekend.
