Premiership Betting Tips – 8 April

Sportingly Better picks out the best Premiership predictions tonight as Manchester United host Manchester City.

Premiership Predictions

Manchester United (2.30) v Manchester City (3.25); Draw (3.50)

It’s first against second in the Premier League tonight, but this fixture remains someway short of the importance that many tagged this match with when the fixtures were announced last year.

Leaders Manchester United go into Monday’s match with a 15 point lead at the top of the table and the Red Devils remain on course to beat Chelsea’s Premier League record of 95 points in a football season (2004/2005).

The Red Devils have won their last 12 matches at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with only Tottenham managing to take points off the runaway leaders at home all season.

Manchester United have been winning at both half time and full time in their last six matches at home in the league. Back Manchester United Half Time/Full Time at 3.80.

Wayne Rooney and Rafael could both return from groin injuries, whilst Nemanja Vidic may shake off his injury to partner Rio Ferdinand at the back.

Manchester United have managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last six games in the Premiership and the likely selection of Phil Jones alongside Michael Carrick, adds weight to the possibility of a further shut-out.

Opponents Manchester City will have one eye on Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea, but the Citizens will be keen to show their cross-city rivals that they are less than formidable.

Manchester City’s 4-0 victory over Newcastle last weekend added some rare gloss to Roberto Mancini’s season, but the Italian manager’s leadership at the Etihad Stadium next term is far from certain.

The Citizens have won just three of their last seven matches in the Premier League and a lack of consistency since the turn of the year has seen the reigning Premier League champions continue to fall off the pace.

Manchester City’s 14 clean sheets in the league cannot be bettered by any other side, but Roberto Mancini’s side will do well to keep out their rivals tonight.

Last season Manchester City inflicted a 6-1 defeat on their rivals in this fixture and hosts Manchester United will be keen to ensure that the same does not happen this time around.
