Premiership Betting Tips 30th April & 1st May

It is now 32 games since West Brom last kept a clean sheet and even the arrival of Roy Hodgson has not quite changed that yet. Many teams would struggle to stay clear of the relegation zone with that sort defensive ineptitude but Hodgson has instilled a resilience that has safely steered the Baggies clear of the drop.

West Brom will look to avoid complacency as they are still only six points clear, but with Odemwingie in good goalscoring form and Aston Villa not managing a clean sheet away from home all season, West Brom will be confident of scoring. But the Villains are on a four match unbeaten run and Darren Bent in particular has found the back of the net frequently in that sequence. Over 2.5 goals is a distinct possibility with two goalscorers in form, but Aston Villa have drawn 1-1 three times away from Villa Park  and West Brom have also drawn 1-1 three times at the Hawthorns and the ‘Both Teams to Score’ market would cover this potential result.

Both teams to score (West Brom v Aston Villa) @1.7

Stamford Bridge is the setting of a game that potentially carries huge importance. Chelsea will need to win to keep their slim chance of retaining their Premiership title, whilst Tottenham will be desperate for three points in their bid for successive Champions League qualifications.

Away from White Hart Lane, Tottenham have only kept 2 clean sheets all season and injuries and doubts over Corluka and Assou-Ekotto will only increase the likelihood of Tottenham again failing to shut out the opposition on the road. Chelsea are in good goalscoring mood and have scored 3 goals in each of their last 3 games as Lampard and Malouda in particular find themselves in good form. In Tottenham’s last three games Spurs have conceded 7 goals but have also scored 8 goals, which gives some indication of the goals that have been flying in at both ends recently and with both teams desperate for a win the same looks likely for Saturday’s late kick off.

Over 2.5 goals (Chelsea v Tottenham) @1.65
