Midweek Premiership Betting Tips 19th & 20th April

Tuesday brings the first of three midweek games as Manchester United face Newcastle at St James Park. Rooney will return after his two match suspension as United start to get their numbers back for the business end of the season, but no return from injury has been more influential than that of Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia.

Manchester United are clearly gunning for the championship and goals have been flying in especially away from Old Trafford, helped by wingers Nani and Valencia, the emergence of ‘Chicharito’ and of course Wayne Rooney. Manchester United’s last 6 games away from home have all finished with at least 3 goals as they chase a 19th Premier League title.

A highly anticipated North London derby takes centre stage on Wednesday as Arsenal play Tottenham at White Hart Lane. On Sunday there was extraordinary late drama as Arsenal were held by Liverpool with goals in the 97th and 102nd minute; in a match that possibly signalled the end of Arsenal’s title charge, but Arsene Wenger will not let his troops give up so easily especially when there are enough games left and especially against bitter rivals Spurs.

Tottenham have had a quiet run of things in the Premiership recently after their Champions League adventure ended and have only picked up 1 win in their last 5 games, which is not good form for a side who are looking to chase Champions League qualification for next season. This fixture has history of being full of goals with 3 out of the last 4 meetings between the sides at White Hart Lane all ending with at least 3 goals and with one side going for fourth spot and the other clinging on to their title hopes, expect goals and more drama in a fiery North London derby.

From Our Weekend Football Tips

West Ham are back in the drop zone after a 3-0 loss to Bolton at the Reebok Stadium and will surely be on the attack against Aston Villa in a game, which is almost a ‘must-win’ for Avram Grant. West Ham are back at Upton Park and the Hammers have scored 8 goals in their last 3 games, so it is hardly surprising that 4 of their last 5 games at home have all ended with at least 3 goals.

Gerard Houllier picked up 3 points last time out against Newcastle and the Villains took a huge step towards Premiership safety. Aston Villa have also had more of an attacking intent, especially away from home scoring 12 goals in their last 7 away games. With Aston Villa only 2 points away from 9th position, Gerard Houllier will look to finish the season strongly as both sides will look to score and come away with a positive result.
