Premiership Betting Tips. Gameweek 17

Man Utd fans have already endured a wait for their team to play and they must wait a little while longer for the stand out tie in the 17th round as Arsenal take on Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Cesc Fabregas is a major doubt for Arsenal and this does not bode well for a Gunners side who have lost 4 out of the last 5 games against Man Utd in all competitions and 7 out of their last 9 trips to Old Trafford. Man Utd are likely to field Wayne Rooney alongside Dimitar Berbatov, with the Bulgarian having scored 10 of his 11 league goals alongside the English Striker. Curiously Rooney has scored his memorable first goal for Everton, his first league goal for Man Utd and his 100th Premier League goal all against Arsenal. At 1.9 the win for Man Utd is good value, given the recent head to head form, but Arsenal are in very good form and I just fancy them to concede that bit more and who better than Wayne Rooney to get his Manchester United career back on track in the top of the table battle.

Wayne Rooney to score anytime @2.25

Elsewhere Stoke take on Blackpool at the Britannia. Jermaine Pennant is expected to feature and width is likely with Matthew Etherington who has scored in his last 3 appearances. Stoke have a good record against Blackpool and are unbeaten in 7 league matches. Stoke go into the game that will also remember the great Sir Stanley Matthews who blessed both sides having won 3 out of the last 5 games and scoring 11 goals along the way and are second only to Arsenal in the form table. It’s a shame to bet against a very likeable side and manager in Ian Holloway, but I fancy Stoke to come away with all 3 points.

Stoke to win @1.66

Lastly I’m going to take a look into the increasingly popular both teams to score market. The open nature and attacking mentality of the newly promoted teams, particularly Blackpool along with the likes of Tottenham and  Bolton have really opened up this market and also the over goals market too (over 2.5 goals). A nice double this weekend on the games at the Reebok and White Hart Lane looks tempting. Bolton are still yet to keep a clean sheet since the first game of the season and like to play attacking football whilst Blackburn have conceded more away goals than any other Premier League side (although 7 of these were against Manchester United last time out). At White Hart Lane Spurs like to attack. The spine of Chelsea’s team hasn’t been good all season, but they will be desperate to get a result and are likely to score against Tottenhams backline.

Both Teams to Score (Bolton v Blackburn) @1.72  Both Teams to Score (Tottenham v Chelsea) @1.61 = Double @2.76
