Premier League Tips – 27-28 August

After a slightly more promising performance against Arsenal last time, Champions Leicester look well priced to beat Swansea at home in our Premier League bets, whilst Watford’s upset in the EFL Cup, leaves Arsenal strong favourites to win on Saturday.

Football Betting Tips

Leicester (1.72) v Swansea (5.20); Draw (3.60)

Premier League champions Leicester City are still searching for their first win of the season after losing away to Hull City and drawing to Arsenal last weekend.

Manager Claudio Ranieri was aggrieved that his side were not awarded a penalty for a challenge on Danny Drinkwater, but it was a much better performance by the Foxes than their opening day defeat to Hull City.

Visitors Swansea City also suffered defeat to newly promoted Hull City and the Swans won’t take much confidence from their previous meetings against Leicester, having been on the end of 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 defeats in the past three meetings and backing the home win to nil on the www.matchbook.com website at 2.60 could offer more value for those favouring the hosts this weekend.

Club record signing Borja Baston still isn’t fit enough to feature for the Welsh club but Fernando Llorente has proved he could be an asset in England with his height and strength in the box.

Swansea made 10 changes in the second round of the EFL Cup midweek with two youngsters featuring and they contributed with all three goals. It gave the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson a rest ahead of the trip to the King Power Stadium.

The most recent encounter between the two sides was at the end of April (where even in the absence of Jamie Vardy) Leicester strolled to a 4-0 victory and Vardy will be chomping at the bit to record his first goal of the season and give Claudio Ranieri’s side a much-needed win.

Watford (5.00) v Arsenal (1.72); Draw (3.75)

Hosts Watford could count themselves extremely unfortunate to lose last weekend at home to Chelsea, with the Hornets leading up until the 80th minute.

Walter Mazzarri’s side however, could have no complaints with their EFL Cup exit as they were the biggest casualty during the midweek games after losing to League One side Gillingham.

Watford squandered a number of chances in that match and it hasn’t done the fringe players at Watford any favours of trying to work their way into the starting eleven for the visit of Arsenal.

Opponents Arsenal are winless in their opening two games, but have had tough opening fixtures against Liverpool and Leicester.

Arsenal will be looking to seek further revenge on Watford who denied them the chance to defend their FA Cup title last year after a 2-1 defeat in the quarter-finals.

The Gunners gained revenge a couple of weeks later with a 4-0 demolition job in the league and a similar score line could be on the cards if the likes of Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud are restored to the starting line-up after an extended holiday for their Euro 2016 efforts.
