Premier League Tips – 23-24 April

This week our Premier League tips come from Anfield as Rafa Benitez returns to Liverpool and Villa Park as Southampton take on relegated Aston Villa.

Premier League Betting Tips

Liverpool (1.60) v Newcastle (5.50); Draw (4.200)

A resounding win in the Merseyside derby gave Liverpool a comfortable 4-0 win over Everton during the week and only an injury to Divock Origi took the shine off that performance, ahead of the Europa League semi-finals next week.

Liverpool have suffered just one defeat since March and should Jurgen Klopp guide the Reds to Europa League success, then the club will secure Champions League football for the following season.

Opponents Newcastle picked up a good 1-1 draw on Tuesday night against Manchester City and the Toon Army will be at least a little bit more optimistic about their survival chances going into the weekend.

Magpies coach Rafa Benitez travels to his old employers where he enjoyed profound success, but Liverpool have won four games on the bounce and are enjoying a feel-good factor around the club and the in-form hosts should be too strong for their relegation-threatened opponents here.

Aston Villa (6.50) v Southampton (1.53); Draw (4.20)

Aston Villa continues to dominate the headlines on and off the pitch. However, they’re dominating them for the wrong reasons as Gabby Agbonlahor was pictured on the front of the headlines this week and his future at the club looks in serious jeopardy.
Joleon Lescott was also quoted this week saying Aston Villa’s official relegation from the Premier League was a ‘relief’ after their defeat to Manchester United. Villa have scored the least amount of goals in the league, conceded the most and average just 0.50 points a game.

Southampton have had a largely quiet season, given their exploits under Ronald Koeman last term, but the Saints will be content with their performances this season.

Injuries to Fraser Forster and Graziano Pelle have hampered their progress this campaign, but Southampton will be determined to not let any end of season complacency come into the side.

Hosts Aston Villa find themselves in a real mess both on and off the pitch, with club captain Gabby Agbonlahor and defender Joleon Lescott making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The Villains have scored the worst attack and defence in the Premier League and are arguably one of the worst sides in the history of the division and given the visitors will be looking to replicate consecutive Europa League finishes, expect another defeat for Aston Villa this weekend.
