Premier League Tips – 16-17 January

This week our Premier League tips come from Villa Park as Leicester take on Aston Villa and Stamford Bridge as Chelsea host Everton.

Premier League Betting Tips

Aston Villa (3.60) v Leicester (2.20); Draw (3.40)

Leicester City were the only side in the top four to win during the midweek round, as they travelled to White Hart Lane and picked up all three points with a late winner.

Robert Huth’s late header gave Claudio Ranieri’s side all three points, with the Foxes having reduced the gap to Arsenal to goal difference.

Hosts Aston Villa surprised many with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and although Remi Garde’s side are almost certainly relegated, that victory may have given some of their fans at least a glimmer of hope, with the club now just eight points away from safety.

Leicester’s defensive record was largely criticized at the start of the season, but clean sheets against Manchester City, Bournemouth and Tottenham has seen a new found spirit in their defensive game.

Jamie Vardy’s scintillating goal run appears to have come to an abrupt end, but the England international will be determined to get back to goalscoring ways against the Premier League’s bottom side.

Aston Villa have won each of the last four meetings between the two sides, but Claudio Ranieri’s side are an altogether different proposition and against a side that is still very much suffering, expect the away side to pick up the points here.

Chelsea (1.83) v Everton (4.75); Draw (3.75)

Everton proved midweek they have what it takes to compete with the bigger sides with a dogged draw away to Manchester City. They now face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Roberto Martinez’s side will be desperate to show their standing in this division.

Hosts Chelsea threw the lead away twice against West Brom last time out, but Guus Hiddink’s side did at least manage to dominate possession.

Chelsea’s back line still looks susceptible and backing both teams to score at 1.72 does provide decent betting value.

Former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku looks Everton’s most likely danger and the Toffees could grind out another positive result this weekend.
