Premier League Tips – 16-17 April

This week our Premier League tips come from Old Trafford as Manchester United welcome bottom side Aston Villa and Stamford Bridge, as Champions League semi-finalists Manchester City take on Chelsea.

Premier League Betting Tips

Manchester United (1.20) v Aston Villa (15.00); Draw (6.00)

Manchester United confirmed their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup after a 2-1 victory away to West Ham on Wednesday night.

Teenager Marcus Rashford was one of a number of players who received criticism from Louis Van Gaal for his part in the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham last weekend, but the teenager answered back with a stunning goal at Upton Park.

Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney made a late cameo appearance; replacing Rashford and the England international will be pushing for a start after a lengthy lay off with a knee injury, especially given opponents Aston Villa are all but relegated this season.

The visitors have now lost each of their last eight games on the bounce and the travelling fans look set to be finally put out of their misery with defeat at Old Trafford confirming their relegation to the Championship.

Only Newcastle United have scored less goals on their travels than Aston Villa this season and given Manchester United’s tactical solidity under Louis van Gaal, expect the hosts to clear the handicap this weekend.

Chelsea (2.62) v Manchester City (2.62); Draw (3.25)

Champions Chelsea welcome Champions League semi-finalists Manchester City to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, with the visitors having reached that stage of Europe’s elite competition for their first time in their history.

The visitors must quickly turn their attention to domestic demands, with the club battling it out with rivals Manchester United and West Ham for the fourth and final Champions League place.

Manual Pellegrini’s side haven’t strung back-to-back away wins together since the start of the season, but any slip up this weekend could prove costly in the race for fourth place.

Hosts Chelsea have begun to experiment with their squad and given the current injuries for the Blues, the likes of Baba Rahman, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alexandre Pato may all find themselves with some playing time this weekend.

Guus Hiddink lost his first league match against Swansea last time out and given the hosts have drawn six of their last seven league matches at Stamford Bridge, expect the Citizens to maintain their feel-good factor with another win on Saturday.
