Premier League Tips – 12-13 December

This week our Premier League tips come from Villa Park as Aston Villa welcome Arsenal and at Bournemouth as Manchester United look to bounce back from their midweek exit in the Champions League.

Premier League Betting Tips

Bournemouth (3.30) v Manchester United (2.25); Draw (3.30)

Louis Van Gaal has seen the pressure on his shoulders ranked up at a serious rate of notches after their exit in the Champions League. Defeat to Wolfsburg has relegated them to Europe’s 2nd tier competition, but how serious the club will take the competition remains to be seen, but it is worth noting that the winners will automatically qualify for the Champions League next year.

With regards to league form, two draws in succession against Leiceister City and West Ham hardly won over any doubters and the 0-0 was the fifth stalemate Manchester United have endured so far this season. The style of play is drawing a lot of criticism and with Pep Guardiola’s contract up at the end of the season and Carlo Ancelotti unemployed, speculation about the future of Manchester United may be debated.

As for Bournemouth, confidence is increasing on the south coast after a sensational 1-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Goalkeeper Artur Boruc returned from injury and although not fully fit, he made a string of fine saves to keep Chelsea at bay and secure a vital victory,  which was made even more important given Newcastle also won the following day.

Manchester United’s defence looked extremely vulnerable when they were tasked with more impetus and despite an impressive defensive record for the visitors, Bournemouth look more than capable of nicking a goal on Saturday.

Aston Villa (6.00) v Arsenal (1.55); Draw (4.20)

Arsenal defied all the odds on Wednesday night as they needed to win by two clear goals in Greece against Olympiacos to qualify for the knockout rounds. Qualifying for 16 consecutive knockout stages in a row in Europe’s premier competition is no mean feat, but the Gunners have done fantastically well in their last three games during the group stages.

New Aston Villa coach Remi Garde hasn’t had the start he would have dreamed of and the visit of Arsenal will again test the club’s desire and commitment to pull themselves back into the mix. Despite overseeing a positive 0-0 draw with Manchester City in his debut game that was followed up with back-to-back defeats against Everton and Watford before their latest draw at Southampton last weekend.

Visitors Arsenal have hammered Aston Villa in the past three meetings with 4-0, 5-0 and 3-0 scorelines. Even at Villa Park, Arsenal have won four of the last five meetings and you’d expect Arsenal to once again wrap up victory despite a number of key players out injured.
