Premier League Predictions – 9-10 February
With the UEFA Champions League and Europa League knockout stages commencing next week, Sportingly Better takes a cautious look at the best Premiership predictions this weekend. Our featured game this week is Manchester City’s trip to Southampton.
Premier League Betting Tips
Southampton (5.75) v Manchester City (1.66); Draw (4.00)
Last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool left Manchester City nine points behind leaders Manchester United and the Premier League champions will be desperate not to drop any further points this season.
Manchester City are undefeated in 14 of their last 15 away matches in the Premier League and the Citizens will need to maintain their form on the road if they are to keep the pressure on the leaders.
Manchester City’s early exit from the UEFA Champions League will leave Roberto Mancini’s team selection unconstrained this weekend and the return of Yaya Toure will be a timely boost for the champions who have drawn their last two games in the league.
Opponents Southampton have lost just once in their last eight matches in the Premier League, but the visit of Manchester City is Mauricio Pochettino’s first big test on the south coast.
The Saints have a number of injuries going into Saturday’s match with Luke Shaw, Nathaniel Clyne, Gaston Ramirez and Guly do Prado all doubtful. Adam Lallana is still a little short of match fitness, but Vegard Forren could make his debut for the Saints after signing from Molde in January.
With leaders Manchester United not in action until Sunday, Roberto Mancini’s side could close the gap to six points and the Citizens will be fully aware of the need for all three points on Saturday.
