Premier League Betting Tips
Southampton (4.20) v Liverpool (1.90); Draw (3.80)
Last weekend’s morale-boosting victory over Spurs brought Liverpool to within seven points of fourth-placed Chelsea and the Merseyside club remain hopeful of a Champions League finish, according to their manager Brendan Rodgers.
Liverpool have won their last four games in all competitions and the Reds go into the weekend as one of the most in-form sides in the division, following improvements at both ends of the pitch.
Jose Reina could replace Brad Jones in goal, but Joe Allen has been ruled out for the rest of the season following a shoulder injury.
Luis Suarez has scored seven goals in his last four games in all competitions, whilst Liverpool’s goalscoring touch has seen midfielders Stewart Downing and Phillipe Coutinho creep into form.
Hosts Southampton have won just one of their last eight games in the Premier League and Mauricio Pochettino’s reign at the club is beginning to come into question.
Southampton have no injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s game, but centre back Maya Yoshida may continue to play at right back despite Nathaniel Clyne’s availability.
Southampton have won only one of their last five games at home in the league, but the Saints do hold a strong head to head record against Liverpool, winning three of their last four meetings on the south coast.
Liverpool have scored three or more goals in their last three games in the Premier League and Brendan Rodgers’ free-scoring side look set to continue their recent run of form against Southampton on Saturday.
