Next Premier League Manager to Leave – Betting Preview

Last night’s 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup, left West Ham manager Sam Allardyce on the brink of dismissal, as the former Newcastle and Bolton boss vowed to fight on.

Sportingly Better takes a look at Sam Allardyce’s future and the rest of the best football predictions on who will be the next manager to vacate their post in the Premier League.

David Moyes – 17.00

Sam Allardyce

Saturday’s 5-0 FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest was followed up by last night’s 6-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium to leave Sam Allardyce fighting for his future at Upton Park.

The Hammers sit in 19th place in the Premier League, but victory against Cardiff this weekend could lift the club out of the relegation zone.

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold issued an open letter to fans in support of the boss prior to those defeats however, with the board having been fully briefed of Allardyce’s decision to field weakened sides in those games in order to prioritise Premier League survival.

Allardyce has already been backed by the board in the transfer window, securing the loan signing of Roger Johnson from Wolves, whilst 6ft 8in forward Lacina Traore could join from Monaco, subject to a work permit.

Whilst those signings remain temporary, the board are expected to give their manager a chance of turning things around; after sticking by Gianfranco Zola and Avram Grant during similarly troubled times.

Allardyce is the 13th best-paid manager in world football, out-earning Roberto Mancini, Rafa Benitez, Diego Simeone and Antonio Conte, so any dismissal is likely to bring a financial penalty of at least £6 million for the club.

West Brom’s difficulties in securing a new coach has highlighted the lack of quality candidates in the managerial market with the likes of Harry Redknapp, Malky Mackay, Neil Warnock and Glenn Hoddle, unlikely to offer much more of an improvement on “Big Sam”.

Paul Lambert

The New Year’s day victory over relegation rivals Sunderland may prove vital for both club and manager, with the result giving Aston Villa their first win in six games.

The optimism surrounding the club at the end of last season has quickly waned, with fans becoming increasingly disgruntled with the manager’s approach and philosophy at the club.

Villa face Arsenal, Liverpool, West Brom and Everton in their next four games in the Premier League and with star striker Christian Benteke failing to replicate his form from last season, the next month could be make-or-break for the Villain’s fortunes.

Verdict

After crushing defeats in both cup competitions, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce remains the short-priced favourite to be the next manager to leave in the Premier League.

Although the fans have turned on the manager, the owners appear to be sticking by their man, with player recruitment well under way and a run of more favourable fixtures on the horizon.

The Hammers are set to welcome back first-team personnel Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, James Tomkins and Winston Reid over the next few weeks; relief that could prove key for West Ham, but it is Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert who remains the better value bet, with Villa’s upcoming fixtures likely to see the club fall closer to the relegation zone.
