Premier League Football Tips – 14-16 August

It was two winners from two last weekend, as a win for Manchester United and goals at both ends of the pitch in the match at Stamford Bridge left profit stakes standing at 1.71 after round one of fixtures.

Premier League tips from Leicester’s trip to West Ham and Arsenal’s game at Crystal Palace provide all the betting action this weekend.

Premier League Betting Tips

West Ham United (2.25) v Leicester (3.20); Draw (3.30)

West Ham defied all the odds in the opening Premier League weekend with a somewhat surprising 2-0 victory at Arsenal.

Despite being knocked out of the Europa League by Romanian minnows, Astra, Slaven Bilic’s side were impressive and resolute at the back and new signing Dmitri Payet looked a particularly shrewd signing.

Leicester also got their season underway with a win under their new manager, Claudio Ranieri. They scored four goals against a rather hapless Sunderland side and morale will be high in the camp.

The visitors however have not won at Upton Park since 2000 and will need to look to their pre-season away form for confidence.

Neither side will be resting on their laurels for the final month of the transfer window and both managers will want to add depth to their squads. Most notably for West Ham they’ll want to bring in some firepower after the unfortunate injury to Enner Valencia which could rule the Ecuadorian out for up to 4 months. Andy Carroll is also nursing an injury which leaves just Diafrou Sakho as their main threat.

West Ham have always been a hard side to break down, especially under Sam Allardyce and if their performance at Arsenal is anything to go by, they’re also looking to get the ball down and play in the final thirds which is a style of play craved by many at West Ham and the ultimate downfall of Allardyce.

If you’re bold then back the home win at 11/8 but for some added insurance, the draw no bet market has appeal.

Crystal Palace (5.00) v Arsenal (1.66); Draw (3.75)

Crystal Palace carried on where they left off under manager Alan Pardew last season with a 3-1 victory at newly promoted Norwich City, but the manager admitted they got slightly fortunate with a couple of decisions in the match.

Palace have brought some good faces through the Selhurst Park gate with the signings of Yohan Cabaye, Bakary Sako, Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham., whilst the likes of Mile Jedinak and Yannick Bolasie could only make do with a place on the bench.

This weekend signals the start of a difficult run for Palace as they face Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham in four of their next five games.

A lot of people will say it was typical Arsenal having all the hype surround them and finally being able to maintain a serious challenge for the Premier League title only to stumble at the first hurdle.

Slumping to a defeat to London rivals West Ham wasn’t on the agenda and they now face another London derby in Alan Pardew’s Palace.

Striker Olivier Giroud wasn’t particularly effective against West Ham, so Theo Walcott could be drafted back in. Alexis Sanchez was also rushed back into the fray from the substitute’s bench much earlier than Wenger would have wanted, but the dynamic Chilean player could be in line to start with another week’s training under his belt.

Arsenal have beaten Palace on each of their last five meetings and you wouldn’t put it past Arsene Wenger’s side to bounce straight back from their opening day setback. However, it is the goals market that I’m leaning towards and I’m going for both teams to score on Sunday afternoon.
