Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Transfer Window Special
A busy summer transfer window and somewhat panicked transfer deadline day saw a flurry of late arrivals. Sportingly Better takes a look at a selection of these new arrivals and charts the players who can both offer value and deliver a significant points haul.
Bryan Ruiz – 7.0m (FUL)
The £10.3m acquisition of Costa Rican forward Bryan Ruiz captured the headlines and Fulham have certainly added a gifted attacker to their ranks. Ruiz of course helped Steve McClaren claim the Eredivise title and the left footed striker has impressive stats during his time at FC Twente scoring 39 times in 61 games and also making 20 assists. Priced at 7.0m, Ruiz offers good value to fantasy managers looking for a striker with a proven goalscoring record and a creative intent.
Mikel Arteta – 8.0m (ARS)
Perhaps Arsene Wenger’s best piece of business on transfer deadline day was the £10.0m signing of Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta. Arteta is already off the mark this season and should the talented midfielder enjoy an injury free season at the Emirates, then a points haul similar to his 2006/2007 tally could be on the cards, where the former Everton man scored 9 times and picked up 10 assists. Arteta may be used in the role behind striker Robin Van Persie and looks set to enjoy a successful campaign in the Gunners midfield.
Nicklas Bendtner – 6.4m (SUN)
With Asamoah Gyan misfiring the loan signing of Arsenal striker Niklas Bendtner may prove an astute one for Sunderland. Steve Bruce knows all about Bendtner after obtaining the Danish forward on loan during his spell as manager at Birmingham City and Sunderland will be hoping the Arsenal loanee makes a similar impact. Priced at 6.4m Bendtner will enjoy significantly more game time at the Stadium of Light and will hope to prove his confidence is more than just self belief.
Peter Crouch – 6.9m (STO)
Stoke’s record signing is a big one with 6ft 7in striker Peter Crouch arriving from Tottenham. The England striker is another who should benefit from increased game time depsite Stoke’s adventure in Europe. Crouch will fit well into Tony Pulis’ direct style of football and will also enjoy the wide service of Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant. Priced at 6.9m Crouch could prove a good addition for fantasy managers providing the England international picks up a sustained and injury-free run in the side.
