Premier League Fantasy Football Tips Gameweek 24
Blackpool, Man Utd, Wigan, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Fulham all have 2 fixtures in Gameweek 24.
Captain Choices
Dimitar Berbatov
Berbatov has so far not scored in 2011 but was in good form towards the end of December. Berbatov has scored 12 out of his 14 league goals at Old Trafford and Man Utd first play Birmingham at the Theatre of Dreams, who Berbatov has already scored against in the reverse at St Andrews. Berbatov and co will also face an away trip to Bloomfield Road.
Wayne Rooney of course is another obvious choice and will undoubtedly play the full 90 minutes in both games and will look to add to his goal against West Brom from open play on New Years Day.
Nani is also back in fitness and in the side and should play a big enough part in both games for the Red Devils.
Fernando Torres
The Spanish striker was unlucky not to score in the Merseyside Derby, but will fancy his chances away to Wolves and at home to Fulham. Like Berbatov, Torres scores the majority of his goals at home (5 out of 7) and looks increasingly likely that he will score sooner rather than later.
Dirk Kuyt is Liverpool’s most in-form player and the hard working Dutchman might chip in again with another goal, assist and bonus points tally just like he did against rivals Everton.
Transfer Options
Theo Walcott – 6.8m
At 6.8m Walcott is probably one of the most undervalued midfielders, having not featured for most of the season. The young English forward is the most in-form player along with Van der Vaart in the Premier League and has played 65 minutes or more in 4 out of Arsenal’s last 5 games and collected 16 points with a goal and 2 assists against West Ham last time out. With both Arshavin and Bendtner out of sorts, Theo looks like he will get even more game time under Wenger. Arsenal play Wigan in Gameweek 24.
Darren Bent – 8.6m
Aston Villa’s record signing has already scored once this season against opponents Manchester City early in the season. Darren Bent will likely play in both games and will fancy himself to be amongst the goals (especially if he takes over penalty duties) and start repaying the faith shown in him by Randy Lerner and Gerard Houllier with the double Gameweek which also includes Wigan.
