Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 9

Gameweek 9 Fantasy Player Picks

GW9 (from): Schwarzer, Reina, Riise, R Taylor, Hangeland, Terry, Jose Enrique, Ramsey, Van der Vaart, Lampard, Mata, Gerrard, Suarez, Ba, Van Persie

Captain Choices

Luis Suarez (LIV)

On paper Liverpool have the easiest fixture in Gameweek 9, with Norwich the visitors at Anfield and Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is best placed for the captain’s armband. Suarez has scored twice in his last three starts, picking up three bonus points along the way. With Liverpool free from European competition this season the squad should be fresh and there should be no reason why Suarez does not start.

Other Contenders: Steven Gerrard, Charlie Adam

Robin Van Persie (ARS)

Van Persie has now scored 4 goals in his last three games for Arsenal after his brace against Sunderland last time out. Van Persie picked up 3 bonus points in that game and will look to carry on his goalscoring form against Stoke. The Dutch forward also has form against Tony Pulis’ side having scored earlier in the season at the Britannia Stadium back in May.

Other Contenders: Aaron Ramsey, Gervinho

Rafael Van der Vaart (TOT)

Van der Vaart is the most in-form midfielder in the Premier League currently after scoring in each of his last three games for Tottenham. Add to that 8 bonus points and Van der Vaart has picked up 28 points in his last three games. Gameweek 9 opponents Blackburn Rovers have already conceded 10 goals in just 5 games at Ewood Park and Van der Vaart could make it 4 goals in 4 games for Spurs.

Other Contenders: Emmanuel Adebayor, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale

Transfer Picks

Gabby Agbonlahor (AVL) – 7.2m

Agbonlahor has outshone Darren Bent so far this season and has arguably been one of Aston Villa’s better players in a claret and blue shirt. Agbonlahor has scored 4 goals to date in the Premier League including each of the last two games at Villa Park and with local rivals West Brom next up Aston Villa will need a good performance from the England striker.

Daniel Sturridge (CHE) – 6.8m

Mata and Sturridge are excellent pieces in Andre Villas-Boas’s jigsaw and the latter has bagged 3 goals, 1 assist and 4 bonus points in his last two games for Chelsea. It was the first time that Sturridge appeared for the full 90 minutes this season and on merit Sturridge deserves another 90 minutes of action at Loftus Road on Sunday.

Demba Ba (NEW) – 6.3m

Newcastle’s Senegalese striker has now scored 5 goals in his last 3 games and along with 6 bonus points, Ba is now the most in-form player in the Premier League. Opponents in Gameweek 9 are Wigan who have conceded 8 goal in 4 matches away from the DW Stadium and Ba will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net again.
