Captain Choices

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

With nine goals in his last nine appearances, Wayne Rooney’s goalscoring contribution has propelled Manchester United ever closer to a record 20th Premiership title. Rooney is just four goals away from Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot and the former Everton striker is chasing his career high return of 26 Premier League goals during the 2009/2010 season. Rooney has collected ten bonus points in his nine most recent outings and his penalty kick duties make the England international the ideal captain choice in Gameweek 33, with Manchester United facing Wigan Athletic.

Robin Van Persie (ARS)

Without a goal for four gameweeks, Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie should enjoy the trip to Molineux on Wednesday. Wolves have the worst defensive record in the league with 70 goals conceded, 38 of which have come in the Black Country. The Dutch forward has been responsible for 37 of Arsenal’s 62 goals in the Premier League this season and leads the goalscoring charts with 26 goals. Arsene Wenger will need his talisman to rediscover his prolificacy if the Gunners are to secure an all important Champions League place.

Papiss Cisse (NEW)

With seven goals in just four games, Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse is the most in-form player in the Premier League. The Senegalese striker has returned nine goals for the Magpies since his January move from Bundesliga side Freiburg and is enjoying a fruitful partnership with fellow Senegalese international Demba Ba, as well as midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa. Opponents Bolton have conceded over two goals a game on average away from the Reebok Stadium and Cisse may well continue his recent goalscoring run of form on Easter Monday.

Fantasy Football Transfers

Antonio Valencia (MUN) – £8.4m

Antonio Valencia comes up against his former club Wigan in Gameweek 33. Since his injury lay-off in early in March, Valencia has returned and completed 90 minutes of football in each of the last four gameweeks, with the right sided midfielder scoring two goals, picking up three assists and collecting five bonus points in his last four appearances. Valencia also scored, created a goal and picked up two bonus points in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.

Jonny Evans (MUN) – £5.4m

Manchester United’s clean sheet against QPR in Gameweek 32 meant the Red Devils have not conceded a goal for five gameweeks. Jonny Evans is currently the most in-form defender in the Barclays Premier League and the Northern Ireland international has picked up four bonus points in his last four appearances for the club. Evans also helped himself to a goal in Gameweek 29 and an assist in Gameweek 30 and has benefited from a prolonged run in the side, a settled backline and an ever improving goalkeeper between the sticks.

Hatem Ben Arfa (NEW) – £5.8m

The trio of Ben Arfa, Cisse and Ba have the Magpies dreaming of European football next season. Ben Arfa has been likened to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi by manager Alan Pardew and the French midfielder has four assists in just three appearances. Along with a goal against West Brom in Gameweek 30 and a further four bonus points, Ben Arfa seems more than capable of slicing through Bolton’s defence at the Sports Direct Arena on Monday.
