Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 3

Gameweek 3 Fantasy Player Picks

GW3 (from): Krul, Al-Habsi, Cole A, Taylor R, Bosingwa, Collins, Jose Enrique, Moses, Malouda, N’Zogbia, Brunt, Adam, Suarez, Rooney, Bent

Captain Choices

Fernando Torres (CHE)

Despite yet again disappointing last week Spanish striker Fernando Torres looks set to be a front runner for the fantasy captains armband. The visit of Paul Lambert’s Norwich at Stamford Bridge is perhaps one of the most favourable fixtures of the Gameweek and manager Andre Vilas-Boas has given no indication that  his number 9 will be dropped.

Other Contenders: Frank Lampard, Florent Malouda

Darren Bent (AVL)

Darren Bent has already got his Premier League tally for 2011/2012 underway with a well taken goal in AstonVilla’s 3-1 victory over Blackburn last weekend and the England striker also picked up an assist and bonus points in that match. This week Bent will again play in front of the home crowd, as Aston Villa take on a quietly impressive Wolves side  in Saturday’s early kick off.

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

There has been an attacking verve about Manchester United already this season and Wayne Rooney looks ominous. The England striker has scored two goals in two games and has also picked up bonus points in each game so far. Under pressure Arsenal are the visitors to Old Trafford who have lost players both to injury and in the transfer market this season. Wojciech Szczesny has looked good between the sticks, but with injuries and inexperience in their backline and a midweek qualifier away in the Champions League, Rooney and co are likely to find the back of the net against the Gunners on Sunday.

Luis Suarez (LIV)

Fantasy favourite Luis Suarez showed fantasy managers that he does not need many minutes on the pitch to get on the scoresheet. 20 minutes was all it took for Suarez to hit the back of the net against Bolton and pick up 2 bonus points along the way to replicate his Gameweek 1 tally. The Uruguayan striker and his Liverpool team mates welcome Bolton to Anfield and Suarez looks full of confidence having also scored in the Carling Cup midweek during a 60 minute run out against Exeter.

Transfer Picks

Jose Bosingwa (CHE) – 5.6m

Chelsea have looked impressive at the back during pre-season and attacking right back Jose Bosingwa provides excellent value for fantasy managers. Bosingwa’s value has already increased and the Portuguese defender’s stock only looks set to rise further with a home tie against newly promoted Norwich at Stamford Bridge.

Shane Long (WBA) – 6.0m

West Brom’s record capture was rested for the Baggies 4-1 Carling Cup victory over Bournemouth and should be fully refreshed to continue his goalscoring exploits. The Irish striker has already begun to repay the faith shown by manager Roy Hodgson with two goals in his first two games. Long will come against a different challenge this week with the visit of Tony Pulis’ Stoke side.

Ryan Taylor (NEW) – 4.1m

Newcastle are yet to concede a goal in the Premier League and defender Ryan Taylor is always a threat from set pieces. At 4.1m Taylor has played the full 90 minutes in both games and opponents Fulham have not been good away from Craven Cottage for a while now.
