Due to the Carling Cup Final on Sunday between Cardiff and Liverpool, both Liverpool and Everton do not feature in Gameweek 26.

Captain Choices

David Silva (MCI)

No player has made more goals in the Premier League this season than David Silva and his 13 assists make the Spanish midfielder a solid captain choice for Gameweek 26. Manchester City face Blackburn Rovers at the Etihad Stadium and Silva picked up an assist in the 4-0 reverse at Ewood Park back in October. Opponents Blackburn Rovers have conceded 30 goals away from home and were hit for seven in their last away game at the Emirates Stadium. Silva is again likely to be the destructive force with Yaya Toure back in the side.

Sergio Aguero has scored 11 of his 15 goals at home and the Argentine forward has scored four goals in his last three games at the Etihad Stadium. Aguero also netted the winner late on against Porto in the Europa League.

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

Wayne Rooney’s brace last time out against Liverpool added to the double against Chelsea in Gameweek 24 to make it four goals in two games for the England striker. Opponents this week for the Premiership champions are Norwich City and in the reverse at Old Trafford Rooney picked up an assist in a 2-0 win. The Canaries have only kept two clean sheets at Carrow Road all season and Rooney looks to be the main inspiration when Norwich host Manchester United on Sunday.

Juan Mata (CHE)

Juan Mata has featured predominantly under Andre Villas-Boas this season and all five of the Spanish midfielder’s goals have come at Stamford Bridge. Opponents for Gameweek 26 are relegation threatened Bolton Wanderers and Mata picked up an assist in the reverse fixture, which Chelsea won by five goals to one. Despite Chelsea’s worrying run of form Mata has been one of the Blues’ better performers of late and should enjoy the visit of Bolton Wanderers who have conceded 24 goals on the road.

Fantasy Transfers

Jean Beausejour (WIG) – £5.0m

The former Birmingham City midfielder comes up against Aston Villa in Gameweek 26 with Alex McLeish taking his side to the DW Stadium. Beausejour has featured in every single minute for Roberto Martinez since his move in the January transfer window and the Chilean midfielder has picked up two assists in his three matches for Wigan Athletic so far. Beausejour also picked up three bonus points in Gameweek 24.

Joleon Lescott (MCI) – £6.2m

One of the most in-form players in the Premier League, Lescott grabbed the winner last time out against Aston Villa in Gameweek 25. Manchester City have picked up seven clean sheets in their last ten matches in the league and the visit of Blackburn Rovers should not be of too much concern for Roberto Mancini. Lescott scored eight goals during the 2007/2008 season and the England centre back will be looking to add to his current goals tally of two.
