Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 22
Gameweek 22 Fantasy Player Picks
GW22 (from): Sorensen, Howard, Johnson, O’Shea, Clichy, Shawcross, Ashley Cole, Valencia, Sessegnon, Lampard, Dempsey, Walters, Van Persie, Bent, Fletcher
Captain Choices
Stephane Sessegnon (SUN)
Sunderland’s Beninese midfielder has been played increasingly further forward for the Black Cats and may find himself in a similar position on Saturday. Sessegnon has benefited from Martin O’Neill’s presence at the Stadium of Light and has contributed with 3 assists, 2 goals and 4 bonus points in his and Sunderland’s last 5 games. Opponents Swansea have conceded 19 goals away from home (almost 2 goals a game) and Sessegnon should find some enjoyment against the Welsh side.
Frank Lampard (CHE)
The 33 year old England midfielder has now scored in Chelsea’s last two games and Lampard looks set to again feature for Andre Villas-Boas. The fantasy favourite has bagged 9 goals already in the Premier League this season, despite criticism from some sections. Opponents Norwich have not kept a clean sheet all season and have conceded 15 goals at home including 5 goals in the last 3 games. With Torres still looking for his goalscoring touch, Frank Lampard may prove to be a more reliable captain choice this gameweek.
Other Contenders: Fernando Torres, Juan Mata
Transfer Picks
Steven Fletcher (WOL) – 6.0m
The Scottish international has been in consistent goalscoring form since December and has scored 3 goals in his last 4 games. Along with an assist and 7 bonus points, Fletcher has averaged 7.25 fantasy points over the last four gameweeks. Wolves face local rivals Aston Villa on Saturday and Fletcher will be desperate to help Mick McCarthy’s side pick up a vital three points at Molineux. Fletcher was also rested midweek during the FA Cup replay against Birmingham City.
Darren Bent (AVL) – 9.6m
Usually prolific in the Premier League, Darren Bent has managed just 7 Premier League goals this term. The lack of service from outbound former wide players Stewart Downing and Ashley Young cannot have helped the England international and neither has Alex McLeish’s style of football. The loan signing of Robbie Keane from the LA Galaxy may be the perfect foil and compliment to Bent who has scored twice in Aston Villa’s last three games.
