Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 2

Gameweek 2 Fantasy Player Picks

GW2 (from): Given,Vorm, Bosingwa, R Johnson, Brown, Collins, Baines, Sinclair, Hoolahan, N’Zogbia, Nani, Lampard, Torres, Rooney, Bent

Captain Choices

Fernando Torres (CHE)

Fernando Torres looks likely to again spearhead Chelsea’s attack and despite failing to find the back of the net against Stoke, the Spanish international looked sharper and more lively. Chelsea have a favourable fixture this week at home to West Brom, who they roundly dispatched 6-0 last season and Torres may find more joy out of the Baggies backline come Saturday afternoon.

Darren Bent (AVL)

Similarly to his time at Sunderland, Darren Bent seems to find the back of the net more often than not in front of the home crowd; a trend seen after his arrival in January at Villa Park. Villa are at home to Blackburn Rovers who should not pose Alex McLeish’s side a great deal of problems. With Blackburn conceding two goals at home to Wolves on the opening weekend, Darren Bent looks well placed to pick up his first goals of the season.

Wayne Rooney (MUN)

Rooney scored last weekend against West Brom with a well taken shot to carry on his momentum and performances from pre-season. Manchester United welcome Tottenham to Old Trafford, fresh from a 5-0 demolition of Hearts in the Europa League. Unlike most of the Manchester United squad, Rooney is a guaranteed starter for Sir Alex Ferguson and the England international is never far away from the bonus points.

Frank Lampard (CHE)

Frank Lampard looks set to feature frequently under Andre Vilas-Boas and the England midfielder will be looking to improve on his 2 points from last week with a home game against West Brom. Although out of action for a significant period last season, Lampard still amassed 10 goals and Chelsea’s chief penalty taker can be relied upon to find the back of the net for the Blues.

Transfer Picks

Roger Johnson (WOL) – 5.0m

Former Birmingham defender Roger Johnson marked his debut for Wolves with a very accomplished performance against Blackburn last weekend. Wolves appear more assured in defence and a home game against Fulham could prove fruitful for Mick McCarthy’s side.

Wes Hoolahan (NOR) – 5.5m

After his goal against Wigan, attention again turns to Wes Hoolahan, with Norwich facing Stoke at Carrow Road. Hoolahan is responsible for most of the Canaries set pieces and is often given the freedom by Paul Lambert to roam in and around the box behind the front two strikers.

James Collins (AVL) – 5.5m

Following on from the clean sheet in Gameweek 1, Aston Villa and James Collins look poised again to repeat a similar feat. Alex McLeish favours a solid and defensive outlook and with Given impressing between the sticks another shut out seems likely against visitors Blackburn.
