Premier League Fantasy Football Tips – Gameweek 12

Gameweek 12 Fantasy Player Picks

GW12 (from): Hart, Howard, Santos, Terry, Lescott, Shawcross, Assou-Ekotto, Drenthe, Sessegnon, Ramsey, Van der Vaart, Silva, Van Persie, Dzeko, Adebayor

Captain Choices

Robin Van Persie (ARS)

The standout choice for the fantasy captain’s armband this week is Dutchman Robin Van Persie. With his goal, assist and 2 bonus points against West Brom last time out, Van Persie continues to be the most in-form player in the Premier League. Arsenal’s star forward has been in electric form recently and has now scored 10 goals in his last 6 games. An away trip to Carrow Road in Gameweek 12 should give Van Persie ample opportunity to continue that goalscoring run. Van Persie has also been left out of Holland’s friendly against Germany on Tuesday.

Other Contenders: Gervinho

Van der Vaart (TOT)

Fantasy managers will need to keep an eye out for injury news concerning Rafael Van der Vaart as the midfielder limped out of Holland’s 0-0 draw with Switzerland on Friday. Van der Vaart is in superb form  and has now scored 6 goals in his last 6 games, notching up 14 bonus points along the way. Last season Van der Vaart was the difference when Spurs met Aston Villa at White Hart lane scoring a brace as Tottenham won 2-1.

Other Contenders: Gareth Bale, Emmanuel Adebayor

David Silva (MCI)

Although not Manchester City’s most in-form player, David Silva rarely misses a minute for Roberto Mancini and has almost been an ever present in the City side. The Spanish international picked up a goal and 1 bonus point in Gameweek 11 against QPR to take his tally to 2 goals, 2 assists and 3 bonus points in his last 3 games for Manchester City. Opponents Newcastle have been resolute at the back and have the best defensive record in the Premier League, but midfield magician Silva should unlock the Geordie resistance on Saturday.

Other Contenders: Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero

Transfer Picks

Gareth Bale (TOT) – 8.0m

Tottenham continue  their  upward momentum and Welshman Gareth Bale has put in two impressive shifts in the last two gameweeks against QPR and Fulham. Bale scored 3 goals, made a further goal and picked up 5 bonus points in those two games and opponents Aston Villa have conceded almost two goals a game away from Villa Park.

Stephane Sessegnon (SUN) – 6.2m

Sunderland’s Beninese midfielder is beginning to show some of the promise Steve Bruce highlighted at the beginning of the season. In the Gameweek 9 and 10 Sessegnon scored 2 goals, picked up 2 assists and earned 5 bonus points in that run. With Connor Wickham picking up injury, Sessegnon may again be asked to play further upfield.

Royston Drenthe (EVE) – 6.0m

After initial fitness concerns, Everton manager David Moyes seems to bringing out the best in on-loan midfielder Royston Drenthe. In Drenthe’s last two full 90 minute appearances, the Dutch midfielder has created 3 goals, scored 1 and earned 3 bonus points. The visit of Wolves to Goodison Park, should give Drenthe opportunity to highlight his talent even further.
