Premier League Betting Tips – 18-20 January

Chelsea’s 2-0 win away at Hull saw us profit from our Premier League betting tips last weekend, as the Blues stayed within two points of leaders Arsenal.

Sportingly Better picks out the best Premiership betting tips this weekend, as Liverpool host Aston Villa.

Premiership Betting Tips

Liverpool (1.22) v Aston Villa (15.00); Draw (7.00)

Daniel Sturridge marked his return to action with the fifth goal during Liverpool’s 5-3 victory over Stoke at the Britannia Stadium last weekend.

Liverpool have now won six of their last eight matches in the Premier League, but injuries to key defensive personnel including Daniel Agger, John Flanagan and Jose Enrique have left the Reds far less than watertight at the back.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have actually kept just three clean sheets in their last 18 matches in the Premier League, news that will be encouraging for Paul Lambert’s counter-attacking side.

Opponents Aston Villa slumped to their seventh defeat at home this season, as Arsenal recorded a 2-1 victory.

Villa striker Christian Benteke finally managed to end his Premier League goalscoring drought on Monday night and the Belgian’s record of three goals in three games against Liverpool makes the 3.75 on the striker to score anytime an interesting bet.

Paul Lambert’s side have often been better suited to matches on the road this season, with the New Year’s Day win away at Sunderland the Villain’s fourth victory away from Villa Park.

The Villains have been quick to bring in reinforcements in January, but the club’s loan capture of Grant Holt as cover for the injured Libor Kozak has hardly been inspiring.

After shipping three goals against Stoke last time out, Aston Villa will be confident of netting against Liverpool on Saturday, but the renewal of the partnership between Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in attack should see the Reds pick up all three points.

Swansea (3.25) v Tottenham (2.37); Draw (3.40)

Tottenham will be looking to continue their unbeaten run under Tim Sherwood in the Premier League, with a trip to Swansea on Sunday.

Spurs have won four of their five opening games under Sherwood in the Premier League, but injuries for the north London side are mounting with Kyle Walker the latest injury doubt for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham look set to continue with their adventurous 4-4-2 style, with in-form midfielder Christian Eriksen likely to again be fielded on the left.

Tottenham’s fine record on the road  this season continued with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day, a victory that left Spurs with wins in each of their last four away games in the Premier League.

Hosts Swansea failed to repeat their FA Cup triumph against Manchester United, slipping to a 2-0 defeat in the league last weekend.

The Swans have not won any of their last seven games in the Premier League, form that has begun to raise question marks over manager Michael Laudrup with the Welsh side sitting just three points above the relegation zone.

The Danish manager does however continue to be besieged with injuries, with Jose Canas’ ankle injury taking the number of first team players out injured up to eight.

Tottenham have won each of their last four matches against Swansea in all competitions and the visitors’ fine recent record on the road looks set to continue against their out of form hosts.
